Riding a tuned or deristricted EMTB is not a trivial offence and can have serious legal consequences. Also, many manufacturers can detect the use of a tuning device or deristricting method and may decline a repair under warranty if it was modified from the intended original specification. Deristricting EMTB's can also add increased loads for motors and batteries. Riding above the local law limit may reclassify the bike as a low-powered bike, requiring insurance, registration and a number plate.
Be aware of your local country laws. Many laws prohibit use of modified EMTB's. It is your responsibility to check local laws. Ignoring it, has potential implications to trail access, and risk of prosecution in the event of an accident.
We advise members great caution. EMTB Forums accepts no liability for any content or advice given here.
This is the new version, interesting. The old version never worked properly. Please let us know after a longer time and more km.Well I’ve had the SpeedBox 1.6b for my gen 5 now for just over 130km and so far it’s Been great, installation was a breeze ie no faffing about with the postion of the speed sensor etc and not had a fault, though apart from adjusting the wheel circumference in the flow app to get speed to the default 22mph(35km what SpeedBox recommend to have the least trouble..calibration with gps app)I’m more than happy with the recomended speed,as I wasn’t planning on taking up the 100nm,750w update either due to going through the three chain cycle already with standard power![]()
I won't be buying Bosch if they making it so difficultI would approach the new 100 Nm update with all due caution. Internal information that has been leaked to us indicates that the 524001 error will increase massively with the new 100 Nm update for Bosch Gen5: Bosch Gen5 Update: 100 Nm & Risiko für Bosch Tuning
Well I guess if you are so keen to break the law and enrich the hackers it's your choice, don't whine though if you get caught and they crush your bike!I won't be buying Bosch if they making it so difficult
