new cef55 frame

That makes sense.
This is the chart I’ve been building off:

The fork is a Manitou Mattoc Pro, set at 150mm.
The carbon 480wh is out of spec as well. The weight is 2,35kg and not 1,95kg.
And frame weight is not even close to the claimed weight. It’s about 2800g in size large. Jean is honest about the weight of the frame, but they don’t care about updating the pdf.

My plan was to build a true SL, but with the frame and battery adding 800g I would just go 170mm front travel and cheaper overall parts without the weight weenie approach.

Weight....
I am going to make an universal jig to measure horizontal "center of gravity". Instead of using a calculated distance, to make life a bit easier, simply I will measure the weight at the front wheel of a few bikes and post the results. IMHO total weight is not so important. More interesting is weight distribution.

As an example, two bikes I have, one have 3,9kG and the other 4,5kG at the front wheel, while lifting it off the ground slightly, held by the pedals.

The weight is not a big concern at all. I’m more about getting the appropriate specs from the manufacturer.

Weight of my bike is 16,5kg, so still in the SL category I guess.

Wow! that build looks so nice! I also got the PDF with the 210 shock.. Can you list out the parts you've used in this build?

can't wait for the ride review! i'm interested in getting this emtb frame aswell and currently in talks with jean. but still apprehensive if i should bite the bullet.

I was told that it comes with an external battery, so it would be 48v 17.4ah+5.8ah in total. That would be a big range for such an emtb.

CEF55

Following this thread as I'm looking at getting one of these in the next month or two. Already spoke to Jean so just waiting on a guinea pig to build one up haha

I am one of the guinea pigs for this new framework, hoping to resolve some problems that arose when shipping to Brazil, it will work out.

I'll be interested to see if a coil shock will fit as clearance looks tight going off the geo chart.

I went with the basic rockshox 210x55 rs-dlx-selp-b2, I don't do big jumps.
I'm a coil fan boy because all I have to do is set and forget and it rides super plush once the spring rate is dialled in. Marzocchi Bomber CR coil with 500lb spring and Bomber Z1 Coil fork. Everything off my current bike will swap straight onto this frame saving me $$$

I am just wondering if someone can measure width of the battery or width of the bottom tube , to calculate what kind od DIY battery can be sliced in.

Thanks

Szzs just posted another YouTube video of this frame but the title says M560. Is that a mistake or will do you think there will be multiple versions for different motors? Reaching out to try and find out.

Gotta be a mistake. The motor says M820 right on it in the video.

I really hope this frame is more exciting than the elevator music they used! I need a nap now.

I think it was a mistake, but I felt like it.

Welp, I'm on the hook now. Just paid up. Ultimately decided on slowboat shipping, partially because it saved about 12%, and also to gives the US-China discussions a bit more time to iron things out. I was reassured that the tariffs would not affect this shipment as it was shipped DDP, but there's always the fear of a large surprise bill showing up. I guess we'll see. Original estimate is about 65 days.

Went with a 17.4AH battery, and painting the front triangle lunar grey. Have a recently purchased manitou mezzer pro (170), and mara pro piggyback ready and waiting. Purchased an e13 vario dropper and shimano slx 4-pot brakes. Will initially run my old BTLOS 27.5x3 carbon wheelset. Have an old xx1 cassette, gx shifter and RD. Have some 810 carbon bars, stem, grips, saddle, etc. all sitting around in my parts box in the garage.

Looks like it's gonna cost about $3300 all in, not counting the parts I already had (wheelset, cassette, cockpit). Cheaper than most of my analog builds. Been snatching up killer deals on components over the last two yers in anticipation.

Looking to sell my frame since I’m building a gravel.
Located in Scandinavia, but can ship worldwide.
480+280wh.

It's really just because I need the money to build a gravel bike and I do ten times more gravel than mountain biking so thats why this one has to go.
Ideally I would sell the bike complete, but I think most people in the CEF50/55 category would like to build themselves.

Just done a testride to see that everything is working. Carbon battery and range extender.

Thanks! It weighed in at 16,5kg in the lightest setup and 17,5 as pictured.

I'm probably looking for a medium (17").
Does anyone know if this is being sold on alibaba? I have only seen it on SZZS and 4leaf.

I bought it on Alibaba with the seller Jean Wang, the second EMTB I bought from her, the previous one was the CEF50. My CEF55 is in transit with an estimated 60 days.

It seems like SZZS just released a trunnion mounted M510/M560 version frame of the CEF55 called the CEF69. It looks like the shape and position of the motor mounts in this pic matches the M510/M560 mounting of the CEF69 rather than the M810 mounting for the CEF55. Except for the motor and front shock mount, the geo numbers and the rest of frame seem identical.

Wow! This might be the one for me. The 205mm shock length is strange, but you can use an offset bushing if you have the much more common 210mm length shock.
