Levo Gen 4 Specialized Gen 4 Levo - Official Thread

Did some testing today with shuttle mode set to high. If you recall the Velomotion test, they found that with 100 watt rider input the S-Works motor produced 406 watts (so about the official 400% assistance). That's without shuttle. I was able to max out the motor (680 watts on the display for 3.1 motor) with less than 100 watts. The number jump around a bit, but I think around 80-90 watts rider input is enough, meaning the assistance is around 800%. About the same as DJI.

Only the normal eco, trail and turbo modes are affected by shuttle. Auto, microtune and dynamic microtune stays the same. This is confirmed in the motor tune in the app and display as shuttle mode is unavailable if one of those modes is selected.

Here's a pic of the burnt gold color:

Did you noticed a big difference between turbo with 100% and microtunrne dynamic set to 100%:
For exemple in a technical climb?

I’ve had my sworks for three weeks and they’ve changed the cassette twice and it’s spent more time at the shop than on the trails , soooooo frustrated really aggravated , going to see wha specialized has to say tomorrow, whats the use of owning such a amazing bike if I can’t ride it with out the chain jumping

Isn’t this just a case of adjusting the derailleur via the app?

But at the moment this Gen 4 looks very challenging to say the least and rides and feels like a very heavy bike, looking at just how big the down tube is you would think its got a 1250-1500w Batt in it. Its no wonder they have tried to hide how poor it rides with the large rear shock.

If AMflow and others can design a light great looking bike, with a big battery and powerful motor that is very agile and rides so well why can’t Spec, it’s not like they have only just started building bikes.
How many miles do you have on the bike?

I transferred a few upgrades from my old Levo.

220mm HS2 rotors front and rear, +20mm adaptor for the rear was needed. Gen 3 155mm Hope cranks fit. Switchgrade seat adjuster. Raceface NextR carbon bars with Ruffian grips. Hope 35mm stem and seat post collar. New rear wheel built up with DTSwiss 350 rear hub and 54t ratchet with GX cassette and XO chain. 27.5x2.8 Maxxis DHR and 29x2.6 Maxxis DHF.

I still have matte invisiframe, Amygos guard, and fenders coming this week. Almost done.

If the cranks were made for the gen 3, the two sides have different offsets. So if you check the distance between the crank arm when it's next to the chain stay you will see that one is much closer than the other....If they are both the same distance, then were they not gen3 specific cranks.

That's sad... What's the problem ? That's said it's more a SRAM issue than Specialized one...

really not liking the shock. Struggling with the lack of mid stroke. Not into the high rise bars also. Bike is mega bar them two things.

On my way to the LBS to hear what’s next they have already swoped out two cassettes and isn’t a alignment issue either so no idea so far but will keep everyone updated

Unfortunately not with the alignment you would hear a slight slapping every stroke or so , the derailer changes gears flawlessly and smooth
Just the lowest 3 gears 3rd smallest on the cog , when I’m riding in those three always a clank and once it starts it does it often

They managed to make it better and worse than the outgoing model.
Have you put 100miles on the bike?
beside a couple lbs, the new bike is better by every measure, especially cornering.
Took a while to get the suspension settings right, but I found the sweet spot and now feeling faster and more confident.
miles to empty is a great new feature as well. The side load is questionable but so far its been ok.
In the usa its the best full power allround ebike at the moment. My buddy has a new crestline but i think he regrets buying it after seeing all the features on my gen4 for less money. its a good bike but the noise from the bosch is very loud.

check that the hash marks align. There are two settings a-b so make sure its on A, check the chain lenght in the smallest gear. good chance you have to remove a link. also you could be at the far end of the adjustment range and the app will tell you if you are, set back to middle and follow the setup intructions

I like the color of your bike! I’ve ordered mine in cypress green but was tempted to go for burnt gold.

Unfortunately, my local shop didn’t have either available so I had to decide based on stock photos.

But I found some YT videos since which boost my confidence that I made the right choice.

How did the 2.6 rear fit? Could you please post some pictures?

Yes the Bars are way to big, have you cut them down? It helps a lot. As for the shock it is interesting and I understanding what your saying about the mid-stroke... its great on chatter but it does feel a little bouncy if you are traveling over up down up transitions ... like woops. I am still dialing the rebound settings but for 90% of the surfaces I ride on its pretty solid

I don't have a lot of exp with the Gen 3 but I agree the one thing that stands out to me about this bike is the handling / cornering. All I know is it holds corners better than my S-Works Stumpjumper and that is saying something. Honestly I believe because I am a lighter rider that maybe the extra weight is working in my favor for traction? Either way this bike bike rides incredibly well...

Have you managed to get a cable for the extender yet? They are out of stock in the UK.

That’s phat!
Yup I agree! It doesn't matter the color or the angle it still looks like it swallowed a fire extinguisher........

Did Specialized quietly do away with the Class 3 capability? I recently bought a gen 4 and was trying to figure out how to switch modes. It isn't mentioned on the Specialized website anywhere or in the manual online. If they have its not a big deal i probably wouldn't have ever used it. I just wanted to try it out and cant find any info on how to switch that power on.

Try adding tokens in the large chamber before you give up.

I have been trying with the various rebound settings but it may require a token. The bike rides like a Cadillac which in most circumstances is great, but when you get on to roller like terrain (especially climbing) it feels bouncy.

Its still there you need to enter the setting screen (press the middle + bottom button) and the scroll down to find the different class settings. Its not in the manual  You are correct as it has pretty limited use, ie. riding to the roads, paved trails, or fire roads. Every now and then I can feel me hitting the 20 mph cutoff on trails mostly on descents, not really a big deal. I can see an issue this feature could cause for beginner to intermediate riders, as you might over speed a turn / corner as with even 250 watts over 20 mph... as it crazy how quickly you can accelerate downhill, so over shooting turns and jumps is very possible.

Has anyone else picked up that in the Gen 4 owners manual it recommends pedaling lightly during shifting? This is literally the selling point of the Sram transmission to be able to shift under load.

Interestingly enough the DJI power increase update also added a momentary power drop during shifting. I wonder if Specialized will add this?

Correct. I always press the center knob up first then press the bottom button to avoid shutting the bike off.
