LBS used 2 hours (expensive labour costing almost the same as the light) to mount the frontlight but now it looks easy just using a splitter.

Hi everyone

I have a few questions some members maybe able to help me with. I have a Gen 4 frame set but wish to run Shimano Di2. So the preinstalled ‘AXS hot shoe’ needs to go. Unfortunately this seems to require a engine drop and rebuild to achieve, unless I’m mistaken.

The exploded diagram shows that the y splitter to which the hot shoe wire is attached is surplus to requirement for my intended set up. The diagram shows a simple cable that goes between the display and motor with the keyed green ended connectors, which is not included with the frame set. None of the manuals I’ve seen have serial numbers for the cables so it’s hard to identify what I need, or if it even exists. There appears to be another connector for this cable near to the motor which I can’t get to without dropping the motor.

There also appears to be a connecter between the hot shoe and the display, but that also seems to be hidden by the motor, if it even exists. If it does I may not need the phantom cable.

Has anyone encountered this issue and resolved it who can enlighten me please - dropping the motor seems like the only solution but as it invites cable damage I’d like to avoid it if possible. If it needs to be so, then so be it.

Can you advise, if there is a way to disconnect "AXS Hotshoe" cable from AXS Y-splitter cable coming from display location, which is located somewhere above the motor, according to diagrams above.
I need to do this to disconnect the AXS battery cable, remove the battery and cable and use the passage in chainstay for RD cable.

If I recall correctly the hotshoe had a push connector that I had to drop the motor to disconnect from the splitter cable

I’m not using either the splitter cable or the hot shoe if they’re of any use to someone

STEPS: just done it
battery out
rear wheel off
Chain off
Chainguard off
chainring off (leave cranks attached to motor
motor cover off
motor off ( easy, 6 screws and 2 cable)
disconnect 2 harnesses
pull motor out
Disconnect AXS cable in the pivot area
pull AXS battery out
open cable port at head tube
feed cable from head tube, through frame, clip to remaining tabs, behind battery cradle, and through tube that exits at RD location and was vacated once elec. cable removed.
Done

You are right, but my LBS it's full and needs couples of days.
I think i can do by myself but i've got some doubt
The small black spacer must be removed before put on the battery ?
