Getting closer to pulling the trigger on a 9.7 with the current sale prices. LBS is selling the 2024 model of the 9.7 for about $1200 more than the 2023 model.

Would there be any reason to go for the more expensive 2024 model of the 9.7? Both bikes have the same spec, looks like the only difference is colour.

Thanks everyone for all the posts so far, this thread has been super helpful.
It’s the reason I bought an 2023 9.7 at the end of 2024. It was A LOT cheaper than the 2024 model.
No regrets!

How many spacers are people running under their stem compared to bar rise? I feel the EXE has a pretty low front?

From Simon on the EXe owners page on Facebook

I've come across some unconfirmed rumors about the new Trek EXe model:
• Battery: Main models get a 580Wh battery. Cheaper versions get 360Wh, but can be upgraded to 580Wh.
• Frame: Looks similar to Trek Slash E but without high pivot. Carbon frame only—no headset angle adjust like the current alloy version.
• Sizing: XXL frame size will be added.
• Suspension: 160mm front travel. Some models will use a new Fox shock, not yet released—visually similar to the Specialized Genie shock.
• Motor: New TQ motor with 60Nm torque. Same size/weight as current 50Nm motor.
• Backwards compatibility: New 60Nm motor can fit current EXE frames. Just needs a firmware update. Same battery life expected. No confirmation if Trek/TQ will sell it as an upgrade.

Can anybody confirm or deny?
Boy oh boy if true that would align perfectly with what I'm looking for.

I love the profile/weight/ride characteristics of the current EXe's but the miniscule battery has simply made it a no go.

A 580Wh option (plus still option of extender) would be amazing. A bump to 60nm, while not neccessary for my needs would still be appreciated. But really its about the battery while not sacrificing all the other good things that the EXe has already nailed.

Please make it happen.

I am using 30mm spacers plus a riser bar with 35mm. His bar height give me confidence on technical ride. However I'm 1m90 tall and all bikes are too low in their stock configuration.

Just put 30mm under stem and borrowed some 35mm risers. They are 760 which may be a tad too short but it does give me room to move grips outwards to decide what width ones to order myself! Just in time for the OneUp v2 bars!!

Does anyone knows the tune of the fox float x for the Fuel EXE?

I'm about to install a fox float x and have two dampers with different tunes.

1. Description: 2024, FLOAT X, F-S, K, 2pos-Adj, Trunnion, Evol LV, Cube, Stereo Hybrid 160 27.5, 205, 65, 0.4 Spacer, CMSSB025, RM002+, Rezi BVMLHB01LM, CB-CA7-1901_Matt/YS-728_Matt, Neutral Logo, OE

2. Description: 2024_22, FLOAT X, F-S, K, 2pos-Adj, Trunnion, Evol LV, Cube, Stereo Hybrid 160 750, 205, 65, 0.9 Spacer, CXLLH002, RM, Rezi LMB3, YS-728 Matte_STEALTH/YS-728 Matte_STEALTH, Neutral Logo

Which one fits better? First one has Compression medium, last one compression extra low.

I'm a more heavy rider with 92kg

I am working to make my EXe even more stealth. Moving the TQ handlebar power switch to the right side. I can simply flip it around and the up/down is correct. However, for shifter clearance, I need the millimeter that the power cable takes up. Does anyone know if it’s possible to reverse the power level on the switch? So that I can mount the switch power cable up on the right side of the bars, with top being up and bottom down?

Anyone running their EXE in high? Now my trails have dried up the roots nearly got me a couple of times!

Can’t see a huge shift is geometry. Can roll/raise bars if needed.

You can remove the handlebar remote entirely and just change the assist levels using the button on the screen, if being stealthy is very important.

Obviously it's not as convenient as using the handlebar remote, but it does work fine.

I am using the full pack that came with the stock bars and I have the loam 50mm rise bar. I needed to get my bars as high as I could. Additionally I have the 160mm fork upgrade. Climbing technical stuff got a little harder, I have to move up on the seat and get my weight forward. However, everything else got way better

Anyone using oneups threadless carrier? Thinking of getting one. Just wondered how much bulk it adds to the top of the stem. I would have to run a 5mm spacer above the stem to get the claimed distance needed to install (220mm).

I'm running mine in high, mainly to get slightly more reach. It definitely feels like I get way less pedal strikes. Overall slamming the stem, going high and having a 50 mm handlebar was a major transformation. Didnt relize the 160mm fork ate up so much reach for my 177cm

No one any advise?

185cm tall here on a large EXe. Flip chip in high helps with pedal strikes and dosent change the geo much with a 160mm fork. 27mm spacers underneath a 40mm stem with 20mm rise bars.

Definitely feel the EXE benefits from higher rise bars. I chucked my normal 780/20mm rise bars on thinking nothing of it using 30mm spacers and after the initial big smile new bike syndrome wore off it came quite apparent that it didn’t feel quite right. Especially as I went shorter stem too.

Since then my stem and bars have been going up and down like a yoyo trying to find the best balance. (Yeah I know bike fits exist). Tried a longer 50mm stem. Didn’t really like the steering. 40mm feels better but with 30mm spacers you start to eat in to the reach.

I’m 179cm for any sort of reference even though we all have different length legs and arms etc!

I have it, very handy! Making adjustments is a bit of a pain compared to a star nut, finding the sweet spot of torque takes some playing but I wouldn't go back. You definitely want 5mm spacer on top, stem doesn't lock down well without it

Perfect. Installing new fork soon so will make sure it’s cut long enough to allow 5mm spacer on top.

Looked at installing in my current fork but with the 5mm spacer on top I’m about 2mm short of the 220mm minimum. That is annoying!!

I just flipped mine this week after reading your post. I have the 160mm upgrade fork, and 50mm rise bars. I lowered my seat 10mm to accommodate the higher bottom bracket. In my first ride I immediately noticed less pedal strikes (my EXe strikes a lot). I did not notice anything difference on downhills. Climbing technical steep is a bit harder to keep the front end down, I blame that on the front end. Not sure if the flip had anything to do with that. Looking for feedback.

I did laps low/high/low/high. Kinda yo yo style. Pretty flat rocky and technical all mountain terrain. High wins here. Less pedal strikes and navigates tight corners better. Not much difference in the up/down segments.

I’m back in low now.

Also back on lower rise bars. Tried all this high rise more comfortable position stuff and turns out my body frame says nah. Just goes to show how different we all are! Wrist pressure all gone now. Thought it would be the opposite but finally found my sweet spot.

Now to decide on the bars… just keep flipping between the two. Need to get off the damn fence and choose before they go out of stock lol

How do I change my display from KPH to MPH? Can change it in app but not on bike. Can’t find it anywhere!

FFS. Only just had a new motor fitted and now got another error.

Err 5401 Dri C.

Powers on, gives code, turns off. Was all working yesterday.

Just reseat (ie unplug and plug) all the connectors including the main connector to the battery

Will give that a go later. Tried unplugging the ones from the display but they seemed on there so tight I didn’t want to break them!
