Kenevo SL Official 2022 Kenevo SL (KSL) Megathread!

Hi all, I have the SL 2, it has the Float X installed. I'm considering upgrading to an X2, not the one that explodes. Just looking for others opinions before splashing the cash. Would it be worth it/noticeable?

What do you want to achieve by swapping the float X?
I find the tune and functioning really great on the Kenevo, easy to set up, poppy, can even increase the travel just by removing spacers (y)

Hey. I just want it to feel a bit more lively. Just like you said, more pop would be nice.

Agree. I think they work really well out the box. When I’m riding park, I pump the air up a little for a bit more pop.

I’m tempted to try coil on mine, mostly ride tech and interested to see if it tracks the ground better, but really it’s just playing for the sake of it, rather than any need.

In that case the X2 might be a step in the wrong direction…
Have you already tried another volume spacer and/or more air? Running a click or two less rebound?
You can also increase the compression rebound even on the basic float X but not sure it would make it more poppy though.

Hi!
I just swapped the X2, you know what it implies... (sent it to FOX customer service for updating ). Good shock (only for a short time...) but using a lot of travel, lacks support for my taste. Never felt it lacking "pop".

Started riding with a CANE CREEK TIGON, I love their KITSUMA (on my COTIC ROCKET MAX, reliable, damper adjustments effect very noticeable).
Still tweaking the TIGON but for sure the front/rear balance fits me better. Interesting shock mixing coil and air springs for the last part of the travel.

Hope, that helps if understandable!

I must be weird because I’ve always found the Öhlins coil shocks have far more “pop” than any Fox or RS air shocks. I recently sold my spare Öhlins coil to a pro MTB coach for his Levo SL and he was blown away at how poppy it is.

Ich bevorzuge die 11.6, vielleicht ist die SV8 eine Option. Sehr viel Pop, aber empfindlich

I really like this guy….. he has a couple videos on the x2

The more i read the KSL thread, the more i wish Spesh will release something new with this incredible geo / kinematics, AND not abandon it.
For now, Dji pretty much killed the Levo SL / light ebikes market (trail ones).
I guess the same will happen with enduro light ebikes ... in a not so distant future.

I've gone back to the Float X after 2 years on a coil. "Why?" I hear you ask. Just because, no real reason for it.

on my levo with cascade component, my X2 under need of a fix works way better than the float X. But bored to hell, i also switched back to float X.

I actually preferred the basic float x over an ohlins ttx22 on both the ksl and the full power bike.
I read they were designed as playful trail shocks rather than stuck to the ground racing shocks.
Since the original x2 failed and put me in hospital for a week back in 2016, I won't be considering one ever again. They still appear to be plagued with problems 9 years later despite fox claims.

Thanks for all the replies on the shocks guys. I've saved my cash and stuck with the Float X. Increased volume spacers and played around with the rebound and pressure. Looking forward to going and giving it a try

Yeah! Went through some of his stuff while gathering informations. I won't go back to the X2, it's 2024 up to date and for sale, never ridden...
I saw this, however the negative spacer is only in some of the shorter stroke versions and has been there for years, the longer stroke ones don’t have it, I quite like his channel but he tests most of the products on what looks like a glorified trail path.

I was going to sell my X2 but decided to keep it as even new they are not worth a lot compared to what a decent coil costs £700-900 and speaking to a couple of suspension companies in the UK the only way to get better performance than the X2 is with a top end coil shock, but they then said an Ohlins / ext may require a couple of retunes to get right which put me off.

I wish I never sold the DHX2 coil I had that was custom tuned for the Kenevo SL but at the time was going to sell the bike. When originally demoed the bike it was with the Float X and thought it felt pretty good, maybe I’m not good enough to appreciate a decent shock 😄

I really don't think this is a very good idea, stripping a motor to fly is nonsense, opening the motor damage the seal etc, but this is a cool project for sure.

Anyway funny but this would still be an heavier bike that an analog one, I would not ride it unless I would have zero money left in the bank and this would be my only bike.

Does anyone run their KSL in steep and high? Just thinking 64.7 head angle isn't exactly steep, it shortens up the wheelbase and might make it a bit better in tighter corners? That's more of a question than a statement as I haven't tried it. Hoping someone else has to save me the effort

Interested to read your thoughts on that.
Concerned about the “pin” and the tolerances used. Also was the bolt hardened as well as the sleeve? Loose fitting pin in the driveline sounds like a creak machine with increased free play….

As for more weight…. That’s a good thing, the meat powered enduro’s have carbon headset bearing seats that fail (crack)all the time. The Kenevo sl has metal headset cups so it’s a upgrade.

I do, but with a 27.5" rear wheel...

I was but I moved to steep and low with a little bit more pressure in the shock, I like the longer chain stay better for climbing even with tight corners.

Has anyone fitted a 34T chainring to their Kenevo SL ?
Was chainstay clearance ok and did the chainguide still clear the chain ?
Many thanks
