New Bosch Gen 5 rumours

I took the below snip from a video on the Gen 5. It actually looks to be a gen4 motor with a pair of mounts to bolted on to suit the gen5 two-bolt profile?

That’s a GEN4 with the standard mounting brackets attached, you can see the 3 threaded holes on that side. 6 screws thread into the 4 brackets (2 brackets each side).

That is a CX Gen4 motor in the video.

The CX Gen5 looks like this

Notice it only has two mounting points vs. the three on the older generation.

Thanks Shark. So is it possible to mount the gen5 motor in a bike with mounts for gen4, using some adapter plates?

I think the answer to that is almost certainly no. In other words no.

Keeping my fingers crossed something comes out of the woodwork, like this:

Rumors from an Orbea forum:

  • Gen5 Motor is compatible with Gen4 eBike frames by using new Mounting Plates
  • New 600Wh battery is compatible with current frames that fit the 750Wh battery
  • New 800Wh battery does not fit in frames for 750Wh battery, and require a new frame.

Summarizing: many new Gen5 ebikes released in September will have current Gen4 frames with Gen5 Motor and Mounting plates and 600Wh new battery. And in the future, newer frames will be released and they will be ready for direct mounting of Gen5 Motor and 800Wh battery

As far as I'm aware the new Wild with the gen 5 motor is a new frame (very similar geo and looks) and the motor mount area was redone. I do hope I'm wrong and somehow we can mount the gen 5 motor to gen 4 frames, but it looks unlikely.
