DH World Cup thread

Ah right, I think of myself as tuned in to the DH but don't have Insta.

Just to cheer up the cousins more, looks like the UCI has ditched the USA for DH next year. Seven rounds only. too. Snowshoe out, Poland in.

I’m planning to head to Europe for the first time next August so will be trying to add Andorra or Loudenvillle to the list of activities

Check out Singletrack Safari, they specialise in guided enduro rides or bike park packages in Vallnord:

We’ve booked a week with them next year 👍🏽

Thanks, I most likely won't have much time for riding. Looking to be based with friends in Austria so may end up in schladming for a day though.

I have to admit I'm super disappointed to see snowshoe off the list. Went this year with my son and had the time of our life. Had already planned on going for the whole week and volunteering next year.

If you can go to a world cup downhill race I highly recommend it. You wont be disappointed.

Yea Snowshoe only had a short contract with UCI but who knows we may see it back one day..

Wife and I volunteered at Snowshoe '19/'21/'23, and we are sad to see it go. I think it will be a long time if it comes back to Snowshoe since Placid has a long-term contract. Plus the riders don't really like Snowshoe.

Worlds in Andorra sounds awesome, I would love to go back there.

had a look at Vital MTB forums, those guys are crazy but anyway, the chat over there mentions Red Bull & Warner will be covering the racing next year. Can't find any corroboration of that but it would be great. Anyone know if it's true? The cynic in me says it seems unlikely, since RW is contracted to Red Bull but the racing belongs to WBD.

redbull might be doing an alternative i suppose, after the event? so live rights still to WBD?

Yeah, seems highly unlikely for WBD to acknoweldge the coms team isn't up to much & do a deal with the previous rights holders who I'd imagine wouldn't be especially receptive.

That could be a reference to another season of Beyond the Line being confirmed. I'd love for it be more than that of course ! Even though it was only post race discussions and interviews , I still enjoyed it very much and Emily Batty is a very good presenter and a great addition to the team.

That would make sense. TBH I try to stay out of VMTB, they're an odd bunch over there. A few that seem ITK, a load of crazies & a few haters. Last time I looked, they were busy dunking on Bruni for something or other.

Bruni said privateers were like having gypsies in the pits with their low budget setups. 😂

I've heard him use that word before in interviews. @Zimmerframe is there a subtler meaning lost in translation or is it just what it sounds like?

GCN+ is no more, so its down to Discovery+ to provide cover now.
Very disappointing for us here in the US for sure. I have been using a VPN to access GCN+ for events not available here and waiting to figure out what the new plan is? I am thinking that still using the VPN I will have to subscribe to Discovery + but not sure what level of subscription I will need, the lower $$ the better of course! I really am only interested in cycling events and looking at their site it seems that sport is pretty much at the bottom of their totem pole? Still have a month or so before it comes to an end but unfortunately it concurs with the start of the Christmas CX racing that I want to be able to access.

The Discovery + app and TV app are pretty good, but by god do you have to search, but the search actually works, not like Redbull TV.

This is going to be interesting in New Zealand as we don't have discovery+, I'm hoping they may do a partnership with Sky NZ who are NZ's only pay tv sports channels.
ah, thats interesting, i just assumed it was everywhere.
I get if free through my sky Q subscription, so you may have a chance.
