• Warning!!

Riding a tuned or deristricted EMTB is not a trivial offence and can have serious legal consequences. Also, many manufacturers can detect the use of a tuning device or deristricting method and may decline a repair under warranty if it was modified from the intended original specification. Deristricting EMTB's can also add increased loads for motors and batteries. Riding above the local law limit may reclassify the bike as a low-powered bike, requiring insurance, registration and a number plate.

Be aware of your local country laws. Many laws prohibit use of modified EMTB's. It is your responsibility to check local laws. Ignoring it, has potential implications to trail access, and risk of prosecution in the event of an accident.

older version 3.4.x works too ? can flash EP8 fw ?

if yes , so e tube flash code engine is always the same isnt it ?

bet it'll be more and more diffcult to deristrict .. ( ep6, 801 .. )

I don't think so

Yes, finally, after 5 years of App/Software developing they are protected their App/Software... Also they changed authorization logic on EP6/801, this is why they are not supported yet

I use the windows version of STunlocker to change torque/power output and wheel circumference. I use E-tube to fine tune the assist settings (this way no firmware downgrades which is far more involved). I'm sure there's a way to set speed other than wheel circumference but I didn't have any luck with that, don't think it matters. On previous shimano motors I've always used 1300mm for circumference and that works for me.
Can we connect through the cable going to the wireless adapter EN100 or do we have to drop the motor to connect to a open di2 port?

yes but I'm use sm-pce02. try connecting to etube project to verify the connection first. You can download free. I had to do that a couple times before STunlocker would recognize the sm-pce02 as a COM port.

Seems like Im having a issue with connecting with the SM-PCE01, st unlocker sees the unit, trys to connect to the bike and comes up with Error ERR:-1 I cant find any listing of the error codes in st unlocker

TRY etube project, if you get the same result then you'll know something. Did you copy paste the license url into STunlocker?

Both, took a screen shot of original settings so in case I forget and/or for warranty situation to set back.

Is any body tested Stunlocker with new ep801 only to change power limit and move ep8 rs to normal ep8 full power?

I don't think so

Is this mean that will not NOW more possible to change power limit with Stunlocker?

We try connection with ep801 and this work…but we do not know if is possible to change power limit because we have no tried yet because we are all scared to get stuck

Tested the bike yesterday with only the Circumference changed and max torque set to 70nm from 60nm. The circumference change made a noticeable difference, but the power increase did not make much of a difference on the climbs. I didn't increase the max watt setting, I left it at max 350W. Was worried that it may put a strain on the 352Wh battery the bike came with. I've ridden full fat bikes with the ep8 and its noticeably better on the climbs, do you think I may have to increase the max wattage as well? Just so weird that we cant get the ep8-rs to feel like a full fat ep8 does 🤷‍♂️

You can't get EP8 feel without changing the max power.

If you are worried about straining the battery probably shouldn't be playing around with STunlocker at all. Giant's new bike and some Rotwilds give this feature to you with bike, choice to run as much or as little power as you want to (up to full power emtb on an SL format). I suppose it's possible to damage the battery but every bike has it's own BMS so I personally am not that concerned about it.

Max torque 68nm/450W max in boost, pretty bang on similar to my Levo in trail setting.

Yes, sure

4.0.2 is required for changing settings (region, circumference). Don't use the bike on 4.0.2, always upgrade to the latest firmware version after the derestriction
4.02 then last firmware , and the settings like usa market, circumference are stored and enabled with latest fw ?!

what's best recent fw for ep8 vadll ?

so it's different from e8000
Yes, because when shimano got into the fight against de-restriction, for EP8 there was only 4.0.2 firmware (actually an alpha version), and all subsequent firmware for all motors was with "derestriction" blocking via Bluetooth. For all older engines there was already quite working firmware. EP8 (non RS version) motor works on 4.0.2, but shimano made many fixes/improvements so there is no reason to use 4.0.2.
