Hi all. Am based in Australia too. I have a Range Extender "kit" on order - it is (AUD) $999.99 for the Battery + $99.99 for the Cable + $19.99 for the Retention Strap. 😳
Not sure but if one has the money then maybe better buy an extra battery. I mean for longer rides you will have your backpack with you anyway and the extra 1.8kg is not that much. However you get mor Wh/$ if you buy an extra battery.

I was thinking the same thing to buy a replacement main battery as I always use a backpack on major rides. But it was pointed out to me that perhaps the fitment design for the main battery wasn't really intended for continually repeated changing. But at the same time I think it is feasible - although more faffing needed when out on the track with tools and alignment etc. Also I will be travelling with my bike via airplane and the option to just use an Extender batteries could be useful.

Get 2 range extenders? Would probably end up at similar cost to one main battery.

Fun fact. Saw in some video battery labled as follows. Nominal Voltage 50.40V and 6.80ah 50.4V*6.8ah just gives about 342wh. So only about 95% of the 360wh. Looks as if TQ labled it 360wh for marketing reasons?🤷‍♂️
That would explain some of its range deficiencies vs. the Orbea Rise.

No there is maybe a different reason...
A german bike magazin measured the orbea rise battery in the lab and they got almost 400wh.

So orbea is sandbagging a bit qhen they claim they "only" have 360wh battery

Too bad TQ wasn’t sandbagging a bit. I am content with my EXe range, but it sure would be nice if it would get a little more range. I’ll still take the silent motor and natural feel over a little bit of range.

By the way. Keep an eye on that channel in the next days!

They told me that they are doing the same kind of extensive testing at the moment for the new TQ-HPR50 and Fazua light emtbs. Video will be out in the next days i guess.

This will be awsome since we then have the same lab tests for all the famous drivetrains for a better comparison regarding range.

I'd be interested to see what the difference in the battery packs are, how many cells and pack size. Orbea are doing a pretty good job keeping the overall bike weight down as they have around 1000g heavier motor as well to contend with.

I went out for a ride tonight with a friend who has a rise M20, the ride was a 13.3mile loop with 1900feet climbing.

He's a few kilos lighter than me, his bike has faster rolling tyres and most importantly he's a bit fitter than me.

I finished the ride on 28% battery remaining, he finished with 35% battery remaining.

I reckon this indicates that there isn't a huge difference in efficiency of the motors .

Final update regarding range from me -unless something significant changes.

Today's ride was 16 miles ,and 943m of climbing, I finished the ride with 5% battery left. As usual the ride was done using eco on the flats,mid on most of the ups, and max on the steep bits.
Settings are

Eco: 85watts max,95% assist
Mid: 210w max, 130%assist
Max : 300w max,140% assist

So I'm good with that kind of range, but the enforced power reduction to 110w when the battery gets to 10% remaining is super annoying.

Following this thread for a while. Just made a test ride today, so no messing around with settings etc. With 112kg made 620m the last climb was on boost and took 20% capacity. Came back with 6%

Yesterday’s ride. I am fine with the range being a little less than the other mid—weight EMTB’s. I’ll trade the natural pedal feel and silent motor over the little bit of range. The bike is awesome.
This trail has a lot of tech, so I’m am sure that ate some extra battery. I finished with 17% and was using high mode frivolously at the end of the ride, when I was sure I had enough power to make it back.

I have a Levo sl with which I do typical mountain outings of 50/60 km and 2000/2500 m of elevation without a range extender.
I drive 95% in eco mode, using the other modes for a few short passages where I have to push in eco mode. For those who know the levo SL, for these outings the eco mode is on 20/60 or 25/60 (20% assistance and maximum power at 60%). I would like if with an EXE fuel, I could envisage a similar autonomy with an equivalent assistance (or 20/40 ou 20/50).

I have a Kenevo SL and a Fuel Exe. I am finding the range on both bikes to be very close if ridden on equal terrain in equal modes. I have a range extender for the Kenevo and have only used it once or twice in over a year.

I have the Turbo Levo SL and an EXe. My experience is exactly the same.

I have two rides now, both almost identical (28kms/965m with 2% remaining, 27kms/955m 11%), but I thought I'd be doing better for range than I am. I'm 75kgs, plus riding kit (which on both of these rides has been a hip pack) and the routes were identical (minus the brake bedding on the first ride), but these are significantly less than I would get from my Levo SL, which has done rides of ~40kms on the same terrian, without a range extender. I know I have them set up roughly equivalent, as my legs are such that they have to be, it just seems that the Levo SL is significantly more efficient than the Fuel EXe, but that doesn't match what others here have said. Has it taken a few rides for the Fuel EXe to 'learn' about battery discharge maybe?

It seems to me that It's only really the first couple of rides where the range increases, once you have a few ( like 2 or 3) battery cycles under your belt the range is pretty constant - assuming your usage and the config of each mode has not changed.

I found that the eco mode on the exe was set to a relatively high assist compared to other bikes, dropping the assist percentage on eco made ( I reduced it to 60% ) a significant difference to range on those rides where you are on the flat or gentle uphills in eco mode for a fair proportion of the ride.

Range will be totally dependent on your assist modes. In case it helps, I weigh more than you (86kg) and get similar range/battery life to you're describing when using trail/boost modes. If kept in Eco I can easily get over 1,100m of elevation, all singletrack climbing. I'm also running Mullet wheels and heavier tires. I think the bike is far more efficient at lower assist levels.

I took my 9.7 for it‘s first ride yesterday. I used the stock Trek settings and rode 90% of the ride in eco. I rode 47km with 1400m of climbing. I had 18% battery left. The weather was 0-10C. I weigh 63kg but had a lot of clothing on.
Pretty pleased with that tbh but will still need a range extender for longer days out

Range is hugely variable depending on how you ride and what terrain you ride etc.

I did a ride today in mostly max mode (set to 300w max, 140% assist), 2000 feet climbing over 13 miles and had 10% battery left. This ride I was trying to keep up with full fat emtbs.

Last week I did a ride in mostly eco (120w max, 60% assist) and mid (180w max, 135% assist), and had 15% left after 3200feet over 17 miles. This ride I was with people on regular mtbs.

Just for reference I weigh about 82kg.

I will be getting the range extender when it's available.

My bike has an ep8 motor with 630wh battery. There are two profiles available. Roughly, the profile 1 default is roughly 30mn, 60nm and 85nm
