Reign E+ 2022

I just checked out Fox's technical drawings. Surprised to see that they list a fork tolerance measurement of ± 5mm on their specs when looking at the Axle to Crown measurements.

Easy to see why we can have quite different measurements really, I'm assuming all the parts will have similar tolerance % differences...

Either way, my Giant Reign still has a low BB (for an EEB!)

342mm isn't anywhere even vaguely near low for a 170/160mm travel mtb

My Esommet is 327mm - decently low for a 170/160 Eeb
Capra is 320mm - Akchul low (170/165 and I still run 170mm cranks on it)
My old IH Sunday is around 325mm with 200mm travel f&r and I often ran not far off 40% sag (have a wee think about just how low that gets through compression) - proper low

Stop being a pussy Rob, start looking where you're going, pedalling less and stick it in low ;)

Is anyone noticing that their Reign assistance cuts out a bit too early?

I suspected that mine was cutting out sooner than my Trek. Riding along a flat straight road on the Giant, as soon as my Garmin reads 23kph the motor is gone and it actually feels really bad cutting in and out constantly at that speed if there isn’t enough downward gradient to easily exceed the limit. I tried same road today on the trek, speed on the display matches the Garmin exactly and the motor is still working at 25kph. Motor noise stops completely at about 25.3kph. The transition between on and off on the Bosch is way smoother also.

You are using foldable measure. By design most of them will show 2mm less because the tip is moving. Check it out.

The moving tip is a feature for inner and outer measuring to compensate the thickness of the metal tip.
You have to push on the tip for a correct inner and to pull after fixing the tip at the edge for a correct outer measurement.

The cutout feels realy harsh to me, like running against that "wall" and i also felt it early. It was so nice to be back on the Levo, at this point.

Hi @Rob Rides EMTB are you planning on doing any group rides this year. Went to freedom ride last year which was organised off the back of a podcast. Was a really good day riding. Also any plans to do another video looking at riders bikes like last year at the pedalhounds race. That was an interesting video and something a bit different. Also it’s too cold to measure my bb. 🤣

So looking to get a giant e+ 2022. 625wh battery. Seeing a few people getting very low range on their battery. New Yamaha motor not very efficient?
Right now unless we get some experiences from people in New Zealand etc we are all riding them in the cold which will reduce the battery performance.

I do understand that, but it's 12 degrees today. Rode a merida eeb in colder weather a few weeks ago and got far more range. Same size battery. Could be modes. Does the giant smart mode use more battery?

Smart mode uses shit load of battery. It's not that smart.

huh so did you ride the reign already or are you just going by what other people posted?

i rode today with a full charge to start. riding with 3 friends on regular bikes. we rode 4 laps of a popular spot that would be similar to a 'trail center'. i wish i could be specific with stats, distances, etc, but not possible. i'll guess about 18 kms. it's a riding area you can't use Trailforks, etc, as it's unsanctioned. anyhow, i went between level 2 and 3 and had 4 bars at the end. 4° temps, me, 100kg. i was surprised i didn't use more juice. seems to me if you climb on 2 quite a bit, it really extends the range.

5mm longer fork well only lift bb about 2mm, its pivoting at the rear axle.
Did you have any problems descending at speed apart from the root strike?

Could you fit a 2.8 in the rear?

Only 125mm dropper on my medium frame. Specs say 150mm. Got a one up 185mm on order so I don’t care but other ppl will be mad.

Yep, mine too. A little disappointing but I think they must of run out of 150mm posts and used the 125mm laying around.... I've asked my LBS to go back to Giant and see if they can get a 150mm post. If not, it's not the end of the world, 27.5 rear wheel avoids some of the possible buzz you may get on a 29er.

Hy I had the 125 also, asked the LBS where I bought the bike to change it for a 150...If the specs on your country say 150 that's what giant owns you...of course if there is no small print lurking around somewhere...🙆‍♂️👍

i can't drop the battery today post ride. the retaining screw just spins and spins. WTF. this happen to anyone else?

I don't know in what way or spins but it's normal on my bike that it spins forever when unscrewing. In the very end you need to press a mechanical button on the battery to take it out. It prevents you from throwing the battery on the ground.

I connected my wahoo. It works, kindoff…

swapping mode will drops all 3 fields and they randomly drop anyway. Can take up to a minut to get data in a field. I don’t know how ant+ works but it’s extremely slow.

EDIT: I haven’t updated my bike. Don’t dare to as I had read reports with bricking bikes. Maybe further forward when the app gets more updates.

I was trying to get a power reading on my Garmin 830 today and could only get instant power displaying and I couldn't get the mode up either? I've seen the Specialized app can show you what the motor outputs and the rider separately. Has anyone gotten their Garmin to show you power split by motor / rider or mode / battery % displayed? Garmin has the options but it doesn't display on my unit.

Maybe something for @Rob Rides EMTB to investigate.

have you updated your bike @jaylkay ?

I’m pretty’s sure the issue is on the bike and not on our bike computers. I don’t know what ant+ transmission rate is but it’s not usable as it is now. Do you have lag on data update? Or is it fast?

How slow it is on my wahoo bolt.

Same spot different weather. Today it's 5°C and FULL ON mud in Munich. Shorty + High Roller combo works great. They both loose traction art the same moment so the bike is predictable. I didn't have an issue with climbing the most horrible stuff even though it was the stock High Roller (MaxxTerra).
