And afterbSoftware Update you can also get back to Auto Mode if you hold UP or DOWN on the remote for a few seconds

My view/advice so far , still not ridden

1. Don't like grips as have end caps so ordered some death grips
2. Feels well made and solid especially like battery lock needs a thin torx20 to lock in
3. Charge plug is different with battery out bike but you get adapter
4. Battery takes a while to charge even at 6a , charger also has a 60% charge mode
5. Tyres seal easily but not sure 2oz sealant is enough which is all they provide , may get tannus
6. Don't forget to remove plastic washers when installing fork fender , I didn't and fork wouldn't hold air 😁

Did a unboxing

Hello,

Just in case it might help, about charging time / delay : i received my reign E+1 in october.
Charging battery was horribly long (more than 7/8 hours and not even at 100%, with 625Wh battery).
I went to LBS a few weeks later.
On giant site (LBS side) there was a software update, applied immediatly by LBS.
After the software update, going from 0 to 100% battery takes around 4 hours (with smartcharger).

Now, i have one question for you, lucky owner of the +0 model : how ride / feel the carbon wheels ? On mine, i've put Edeemax, and it's extra. But i really wonder how better (or not) is the ride with the serial carbon wheels on the +0.

I'll let u know maiden ride later although I'm no expert.

Does anyone recommend a bottle cage as I think u need a side ways loading one has no room for a normal top loading one

Just out on maiden ride ,

Feels miles more powerful than me levo even on eco

Auto works good but have to be in right gear or it surges

App a bit fisherprice giving range well over 100 miles , not sure if correct even on road , also says ride distance 28miles but only done 5miles

Rear brake is not good coming to bars to quick not sure what knurled knob does yet

Virtual no drag almost like a acoustic bike on the flat

the dealer put on a Giant brand side mount and it's the best one i've seen. holds the bottle very firmly.

today i receive my new reign , first question : were the hell is the walk assist? and second: i find a little play in the crank axl is that normal, it's my first electric bike and i can not understand ?

Press middle button then hold up

I asked them to throw in a Giant carbon side-loader with giant bottle.

Barely fits and rubs on the shock at compression. No way a top-loader would fit as clearance is extremely tight, even with a 600ml sideloader, the shock is gonna rub a hole in it eventually.

whatever one they gave me (same thing, threw in a shop bottle and cage) has slots to position it up or down. tight fit, but easy enough to get the bottle in and out and avoid contact with the shock.

Hi everyone. Short question. I bought mine on Thursday (reign e+ 0) and updated the software of the motor via Android App. The bike when I switch it on starts in auto mode (one blue light on the left), and will switch itself off after 30 seconds. When I switch it on again all the indication lights are on and white. The same happens and 30 seconds later bike is off. Then the whole cycle repeats. LBS is closed till Monday noon. What could I do now?

my shop advised me to avoid the app altogether and just ride the bike. use the up and down to adjust the desired power output. i've taken that advice and it's been great and i'm not worried about any of the electronic details and settings. i love the power it has and the delivery and i've got each setting figured out. i'm concerned more about getting the suspension dialed in.

Not very helpful answer.

The app is a useless trinket, that loses novelty quickly, even when it works.

Yeah. I'm terribly sorry for trying out the app. 100% my fault. Won't ever happen again. What was I thinking. Weekend ruined, lesson learned.

Sorry man. Just offered my opinion about the app. I'll delete it now.

I hope you're kidding. Hurting some random salty guy's feelings is not a reason for self censorship. I'm sad cause the bike is 3 days with me and it's sitting there useless in the garage. Anyway. I hope the shop will be able to fix it before next weekend.

Have you tried to restart the app with the bike ON ,and see if it will finish the update? It seems to update one unit at a time, requireing a reboot of the bike, and continuation in the app..at least that's what mine did last time, and I did read of some able to restart the update.

Edit. If it doesn't pick up and finish the the update, try removing and reinstalling the battery. This has often fixed glitches for myself and others.

My comments about the app, while totally true, and justified, were out of place. Lol.. I didnt realize you were in a bind, and thought this might be another opportunity to bash Giant about their complete lack of imagination concerneing the app.

I tried to go through absolutely every possible way to un crap the situation. The app definitely thinks that the update has finished. I was even able to run system check and confirm that the motor firmware version was updated.

I think that if the app is the reason for all this trouble, Giant made some bad decisions about the development of this app. Especially because the software of the motor is really good. Compared to my bike I had before (Bosch 4th gen) this motor feels 10 times better. More natural. It tricks you into thinking that these are the legs that do the work. And you can do really stupid things like wheelies effortlessly.

"To be in a bind". I didn't know that phrase. I have to finally visit some English speaking country to properly learn this language.

Reign E+1 owners (maybe others I didnt check the specs) - How are you finding the KMC chain?

I have still not really been out for a proper test drive but the bike is sitting on the workstand looking great. I was playing around with it today and noticed that the shifting is not great compared to my Rail that has the same drive-train components but is running the Hyperglide M7100 12 speed chain. In fact the Rail drive-train is super worn out and is overdue for replacing but it still feels smoother and the up-shift happens almost as soon as you touch the shifter. On the Reign the chain feels rough, especially on the second smallest cog for some reason, shifts are nowhere near as instant and the chain between the cassette an the chain ring seems to be getting a lot of vertical vibration.

I even checked the rear mech alignment to make sure that everything was aligned correctly and it is perfect. The KMC chain seems to be a pretty high spec chain but I have never had any issue with the M7100 chains and get pretty good durability from those. I am wondering where the benefit is with the KMC.

On my previous 2020 reign I ditched the Kmc after it developed a tight spot for a shimano xtr 12 spd chain!
the shifting was instantly better and ran smoother

I have 2 x M7100 (SLX) spare chains sitting on the shelf. I am thinking of ditching the KMC just to see the difference. I can always keep that as an emergency spare

You will notice the difference!
when my new 2022 arrives it will be the first thing I do and keep it as a spare.

I rode some steep rocky and natural DH yesterday and tore the DD casing tyre.

If I could go back in time, I'd definitely use the DH casing. Don't think Cushcore would have helped as it was a cut rather than a pinch, though the rim was a little dented where the cut appeared, with a corresponding small tear in the bead?

I replaced mine with a SRAM Eagle instantly because replacements were way cheaper than any Shimano or KMC - there seems to be a shortage of Deore and SLX components at the moment which has doubled prices. The Eagle chain works perfectly.

I've also downgraded to an RD-M6100 derailleur and haven't noticed a difference from the XT.

Have a HG hub arriving for a build so I can run cheap but heavy (all steel) Eagle 12 speed cassettes.

Has anyone considered bashguard options?

I don't have problems with the motor clearance usually, I just want insurance against anything breaking the cover and motor.

I've noticed that there is some minor damage to the rubber part of the battery case. Most of it could have been avoided, but at slow speeds I might not always be able to scoop the back of the bike up with my feet.

Something which is designed to spread the impact across the frame would be ideal.

Looks like Amygos has one, does anyone rate them?
