Replacement 12 speed cassette advice

My Wild FS M10 is needing a new 12 speed cassette. I have DT Swiss H-1900 Spline 30c TLR, Boost wheels with a Sun Race CSMZ80 11-51t, 12-Speed cassette at present. Finding a cassette is a nightmare but I can get a Shimano 12 speed 11-51T but will need a DT Swiss Shimano micro spleen 3 pawl freehub, I think.
Can anyone point me in the right direction of the correct freehub and is it just a case of sticking a Shimano Deore, SLX or XT 12spd cassette on there, or do I need anything else? Do I need a hybrid freehub?

Similarly, can I just put another 12sp cassette on instead of changing the freehub? If so, anything else apart from a Sunrace that will work with my current XT 12speed derailleur at present.

Have you got an HG or SRAM XD freehub at the moment?

That's an HG freehub. If you can find one, a SRAM NX 12 speed cassette will fit.
 
That's HG. Not many 12-speed choices there that I know of if you don't want to stick with SunRace and don't want to change freehubs.

Garbaruk makes a 12-speed HG casssette that's supposed to be pretty good, but it's likely more than you're keen to spend.
 
I’m open to options, but what freehub is required to change to Shimano as I’ve been told a DT Swiss Shimano micro spline but should it be a hybrid for the ebike?
 
Apart from loosing 1 tooth, would this be Ok?

DT Swiss uses the "hybrid" label for anything specifically meant for e-bikes. Whether they have a separate part number for "hybrid" and regular MS freehubs, you'd need to do some research.

@Jackware and @Doomanic have pointed out the NX cassette. That might be a really good option to keep costs under control and avoid messing with freehub changes.
 
So is that a case of fit the NX on what I’ve got? I take it the Sram NX will work okay with my Shimano XT 12 speed derailleur?
 
Yes. I use an NX cassette with an XT mech. It doesn't shift as cleanly as a Shimano cassette but it works fine.
 
Ok, next issue is getting one? Let’s just say that I change to Shimano and change my Freehub. What one do I need? Is it this? Do I need a different end cap for boost wheels as is says 142mm ?

I'd suggest getting in touch with DT to make sure you're getting the right part number for your application. Amazon should be your last stop after you know the part number.
 
the description says 142/12mm OR Boost ( albeit most of the word boost is cut off).

Thanks. Why would Amazon be the last stop if they are selling the correct part at a cheaper price?

I wouldn't consider them a primary source for DT part numbers and information by a longshot. That said, if you're sure that's the correct part number for your application, then go for it.
 
Not sure where you live, but Shimano micro spline cassettes are like hens teeth and full rrp in the uk. So you would be looking at £150 ish minimum. I have nx on a trail bike, just a load of stamped steel sprockets and plastic spacers but works. My Shimano cassette on my Wild lasted 500 miles.
 
You could drop an 11 speed on, and adjust upper limit screw to stop final change (Drop over the back of cassette). Worked ok until 3 cassettes arrived from Italy (took best part or three months!!)

you will see exactly the same description as the one you saw on Amazon, same picture etc on ebay and online bike shops. It is a DT Swiss kit. You will see on other ads it is described as suitable for 142 or boost which suggests the kit contains more than end cap.

Got one from Germany for £58. Even with VAT it will be cheaper. Got an SLX cassette from the UK. ?

It’s says boost or 142, but I take it the boost is what I need?

DT Swiss describe all the freehub options for Hybrid are steel rather than ally.
 
None of the listings I have seen offer a selection of either 142 or boost so I can only assume the kit comes with both end cap options....which is the only difference between 142 and 148 boost as far as the freehub is concerned.

I’ve ordered it twice and it comes with only one, which from previous comments must come with boost as it fits perfectly, and is not quick release ??‍♂️
