I’m hoping my Merida EP8 was a bad Motor. I’m riding a load more EP8 bikes over the next few days. I’ll compare them all.
Perfect thank you! ? Nothing like first hand reports from a rider who has ridden them all. Have you also heard rumors of the recall? Is the recall to fix the rattle?

Commencal USA says bikes on are the way to Colorado. Do they not have motors in them?
They do, but they won’t sell any until the Shimano issue is figured out. If Shimano recalls the motors, the bikes will just sit in their warehouse.

Update from Commencal USA: possible recall is due to a motor mount that stripped out on a different bike brand. Unclear if that is a wide spread issue. The clunking is here to stay apparently

They are not expecting delivery until DECEMBER even without a recall. Pre-orders will open once they get the OK from Shimano

melmark are you sure about December? They told me they expect bikes to arrive end of September. I see no reason to hold them if okeyed by Shimano

Yep just got off the phone with them. Even the analog 2021's wont be delivered until November. End of September is for pre-orders to start...

I was also considering the Trek Rail, and those are already in production but lead time is still 70 days from order date

I share the same concern. I'm second guessing purchasing the first production models of the EP8. Might be worth it to wait a few months to see if the Commencal reviews pick up the same rattling noise or to see if Shimano fixes or improves the rattling.

Rob's video at 6:51 has me worried. This would drive me nuts:
Yes, it amazes me that some people can't wait to buy the newest thing or run the latest upgrade. I always sit back and wait till something is a reasonably known quantity.

Yes, early production of anything always has some kinks to work out. Note; Bosch did have a major sw upgrade recently, so it all gets worked out in the end. Guess nothing replaces the "real world" testing when in this case the motor gets tested on many different bike, riders with varied skill levels, and yes, dry to wet conditions. Hope the "clunk" get fixed... fingers crossed.

Commencal is now allowing pre-orders on their 2021 ebikes on the US website. Availability is saying Dec 2020 which is a little unfortunate. I may put down an order though for the Team edition. Anyone know what their cancellation policy is?

Just put the order in for Signature. I bet you can cancel before they ship it.

Did they mention if there is a chance shipping will be delayed until spring or even summer of 2021?
I did ask about that - they are very confident bikes will ship December, but cannot commit to any particular date.
YT Decoy Elite shows early November as well, I would rather wait an extra month and get 2021 bike.

It's 20mm drop, so I'm guessing around 350mm with an average tire?
same drop as 2020, i computed bb height theoretically as 352mm when i entered the 2021 into geometry geeks based on Tire Size Calculator with 2.4" oem tires (maybe @RobRidesEMTB can verify empirically)
note the 2021 stack is -20mm vs 2020
