Whyte Karve Evo

I got 5 full runs to the top at BPW and you can beat the uplift.
FWIW, I did the uplift at BPW for the first time on Friday. I lost count but I think I only got 7 or 8 runs in, and that's with being first in the queue when it opened and on the last bus up. It only took about 7 minutes of actual driving per run, but another 5-8 min of waiting/loading/unloading, and 2-15 minutes of riding/walking back to the uplift from wherever the trail ended (they don't all end near the uplift). Going to my van for quick lunch break took about 10-20 min of riding as well, because the uplift starts a long way from the car park. And the uplift only runs from 10 till 4, whereas the park is open 9-5.

Even with a fixed battery, you could do at least 10 runs: 5 leisurely runs in the morning (9-11 am), 2 hour break to recharge (11-1), and 5 more in the afternoon (1-3). Might even get a partial charge (3-4) and a couple more runs (4-5) after that, so call it 11-13 runs total. You also have the flexibility to do any trail (with any ending point) without a time penalty, session shorter sections, visit the skills area, quickly go back to the van for repairs/breaks, etc.

With a removable battery and Avinox or CYC motor, 20+ runs is doable. The climb takes about 15 min and descent 5 min, so about 3 runs per hour, and you can ride for about 7 hours with an hour for lunch. That's nearly 3x the runs you get with an uplift and nearly 2x the number with a fixed battery.

This was a ride yesterday with a lunch stop charge at Risca - we stopped for about 45 mins for coffee/sandwiches

I'd be all over one of these if they released an m2 powered version for about £4-4.5K similar to the Amflow PR Carbon base model.

Seen the blue one in the flesh at a demo event today. Really nice looking in person. Loves my elyte and ridden a kado a few times. Both handled as good as anything equivalent. Expect the karve will be the same.

Thanks for info. How many climbs do you get at BPW from a battery?
We typically get about 7-8 full top to bottom runs and some riding in the quarry skills area.
This will be a mix of the normal path up and e-bike climb.

This includes a ~30minute lunch time charge

Bike : Trek Rail, Bosch Gen4, 750wh battery

Was it available to demo? Was it a leisure lakes demo event?

Question is, did you enjoy Risca? I think it (and surrounding valleys) is the best place ever
How do you find out where to ride? Trailforks has the semi-official off-piste stuff (Busy Lizzie, Wacko Jacko, Conda, etc) but I know there is a lot more that isn't on Trailforks.

Go ride and explore trails. Chat to locals. Or find someone who knows the area and get them to show you round.

Heatmaps are a great way to find trails

Yeah, that was my strategy at Dowie - just looked at the heat map in Strava and went exploring on the eeb. It sort of worked, but the easy transfer trails were the 'hottest' and the direction of travel wasn't always obvious, so it took time to discover the more interesting/advanced stuff. I'll probably try it round Risca at some point.

Likely it’ll feel a bit less lively, depending on some other bike characteristics.

But for me, a bike that has excellent geometry, well balanced front and rear lengths, good suspension kinematics and a good spec can make even a long travel 180mm bike feel way more playful than a shorter travel bike with a lesser thought gone into it (eg XL bikes with really short rear ends, they go from playful to sketchy)

The Karve has excellent geo.
Saw one Saturday, the thing does look nice, one of the best looking avinox bikes out atm I think

Apparantly only four of the blue bikes about? Might not be able to demo one for a while, people seem to be buying blind as it's one of the few 180mm avinox bikes.

I tested a velduro rogue x last week and really liked this bike. But for an extra £700 I can get a much better fork, shock, axs shifting, fast charger & ride wrap with the Karve. I’m considering changing my order to a Karve RSX now, feels like a no brainer at this stage.

Only concerns is there’s no reviews out yet and I’d be ordering a £7300 bike blind.

First rsx bikes may arrive in September, then after that it could be January, I’ve placed an order and the dealer said if he placed an individual order instead of a batch sometimes they creep through quicker

I was having a look at one too, but October date for a size Medium is far too long to wait for a bike, lifes too short and I'm not waiting out a season for one of these, so pulled the trigger on a Velduro in small, frameset, delivery June.

You won’t be disappointed!

I’ve placed an order for the RSX also. Same, September arrival date. That’ll give me time to save for the bloody thing.

When are we going to see a review of the Karve? There’s a couple of interesting videos on YouTube but no reviews or rider feedback.
