Just completing the Altura South Loop today at Whinlatter when I heard sirens approaching. Thinking someone had been hurt I was surprised to see two fire engines swinging into the car park at about 11:45 am.
Turns out they had a wildfire on the harvested slope on the North side of the forest. Large one too according to the local rag...
