Which is the BEST sealant ?

I know this conversation comes and goes, but then so do new products.

Been using some junk called "zeroflats" for some time, but can't say I'm impressed. It's like ammonia mixed with bulls milk or something. If you pop your tyre off after 2 weeks it's all just reacted and coated the inside of the tyre leaving some water or pee pee behind. I also hate the smell when I'm cleaning the tyre/wheel afterwards as the ammonia smells like the stairs in an inner city multi story car park/toilet.

Was thinking Stans, Peaty's, Monkey Sauce ?!

By BEST, I mean - it works AND it stays active in the tyre for several months.

I use Stans. I also carry the Stans tubeless repair kit as it reputedly chemically reacts with the Stans sealant to make a better and more permanent repair. There are several reviews around that confirm that it is a superior repair.

I've used Stans for years. No complaints, just had one tyre go flat after just under a year. Quick top up & all good again.
 
Following this with interest as my bottle of Caffelatex is just about empty. My LBS use Stans and when they rebuilt my wheel they used it when they refitted the tyre and it seemed to work fine. I say "seemed" because the tyre didn't lose significant pressure between rides and I never noticed a puncture if I got one. However, all was left in the tyre when I changed it was a ball of latex snot.

Stans. Used a load, keep coming back to Stans regular sealant. Muc Off was one of the worst IMO failed to seal on many occasions!! It looks and smells nice though..
 
Continental Revo Sealant

It's ammonia-free so it does not react with the tyres. 120ml in my 29x2.5 tyre lasts longer than six months. I know that because I just topped up after six months and there was still some swilling about.

In the UK, Amazon had the best price for a 240ml bottle, so I bought two.

Although BikeInn may be better for your @Zimmerframe as it's inside the EU.

Edit: PS: Shake the bottle!! and don't try to pour it in through the valve hole. It has bits in it that will block the valve, even if you have removed the core. I just pop off several inches of tyre bead.
 
strange that so many different experiences with the same sealant. I used stans for years but it just went solid in the tyre in no time at all, changed to muc off and its saved my bacon a few times without having to get a bacon strip in there to get me home.
it lasts well but the downside is its like this flourescent 'get everywhere' gloop that stains everything it touches unless you get it off straight away.

I use Caffelatex too - mostly because I hate the smell of the ammonia based sealants - and find that I have to refresh it every 6 to 8 weeks.

'Course, that might be because we get a bit more sunlight on the tyres down here...

Other folks around here use different stuff (we all have our favourites) but we all have the same problem of drying out.
 
Get down to your local agricentre and get some OKO tyre sealant, (not the cycle stuff). It won't go through the valve but it'll seal any hole and wont go off in the tyre at all. Plus its loads cheaper, been using it for last 20 years.
 
Only used muc off so far.
Is it good? Idk.
Mainly chose it because of its compatibility with co2 and its ability to seal langer holes
Most of the punctures I had where to big to fix, although muc off says I should've been sealed but I still had to plug it.
In the hole it seemed that the muc off wouldn't dry and kept coming out.

The stans dart does it also react with muc off?
 
I have used 4 different types of sealant over the years.

The first being Stans (regular) which does a great job of sealing the tyres and for a while stays liquid. After some time though, the particles in the sealant clump together and form a 'stanimal' which gets bigger and bigger until you remove it and start again.
The largest was in a fatbike tyre and was almost as big as my fist! you could hear it bumping around inside the tyre .
If I've had any small punctures, it has sealed them without me knowing. Only one has failed to seal and that was in a 4" fatbike tyre, but that was a big piece of glass that cut through and nothing would have sealed it.

I then tried Fenwicks, in which you paint it onto the beads and inner carcass to help the seal, and then a dosage into the tyre cavity.
That was rubbish, it may have done the seal, but it was too thick to flow to any punctures and just sat in a goopy puddle when left, and stayed there putting the wheel out of balance.

Another poor one for me is OKO X-Treme sealant (bought from Planet X) supposedly good enough for dirt bikes and ATV's. Again too thick to flow to any puncture, at least it was cheap!

My go to at the moment is Caffelatex, very thin so flows to anything quickly has particles to help clog holes and stays runny for ages.
Only problem it is can be messy when setting up so you need to clean up quickly or it is a pain to clean of rims etc.
 
I use stans, seems to work well enough, I have tried some other types and they've never been as good as stans.

I'm always open for trying something better though if there is something, I can't help wondering that something slightly more viscous would be better, but they all seem to have the same consistency.

I agree with the person above that the Fenwick stuff is useless, that is too viscous.
 
I find oko a bit thick so add 50% water to it.
Its £10 from my local Mole farm shop for the 1250ml bottle.

I'm back to Stan's plus Dynaplug plugs out on the trail. I tried Orange Seal for a while, but all it did was leave delightful orange stripes in the snow or trail. I also experimented with adding glitter inside the tire before installation, but it was a real mess so I stopped doing it.
 
I used Stans (normal not Pro version) before, but it dries really fast in one summer. A miraculous transformation into hare papanas.
It might work in the UK, but at least we usually have a long hot summer and it can’t stand it.

Similarly, if standing all winter, in the spring you will find only a dried tile in the tire.

In recent years, used Schwalbe stuff that does not dry out. Even there is some rumours that it's Stans???
 
OKO Magic Milk did the job. Stans left strange balls to the tire. I'm running cushcore.

Will go back to OKO when the Stans bottle is empty.

That sure doesn't seem like a tubeless ready tire. Those sidewalls must be crazy thin and porous.
