Do 8,16 or 24 miles every Thursday around local trail ( Cardinham Woods ) with the odd excursion to Cannock Chase in the Midlands and Welsh mountains on the wishlist 😁👍

We're a bit like Superman and Clark Kent - no pictures exist of me AND the bike together.....
weird huh?
( or just Billy noMates 🙈 )

I bought my first mtb when I was 58. It was a Kona Kula 26er hardtail, 100mm travel. I loved that bike and I kept it for years. I was persuaded to sell it to a mate for the 15th birthday of his son. Except the silly bugger only went and got killed on active service and never paid me. (RIP Taz ). When I got to 63, I was riding a lot all over the place and with no aches or pains I felt like Superman! Then the knee pain started!
I bought my first emtb when I was 67. It was a Focus Jam2 9.6 NINE (carbon framed 29er 150mm travel, e8000). I think the bike is stunningly beautiful.

This is me puffing my cheeks on the Focus.

That 29" rear wheel used to buzz my arse when I got any steeper, forcing any mud through the fabric of my waterproof shorts!

Last year I bought a Merida e-One Sixty 9000 (carbon framed mullet, 160mm travel, EP8). I believe it was the last one sold in the UK in 2021.
This is me posing in my new shirt, shoes and trousers. May I point out the state of the lawn after not being watered at all during the current dry spell, now officially a drought. The only green bit is where I wash my bike from time to time. I was trying to smile, but failed. It was 32degC and I could feel the sun on the back of my neck.

Beautiful bikes, Steve. That is one pricey bike the Merida. I also think your lawn enhances the red color better 😝

Why thank you Expidia ..... I wasn't sure at first but then realised, whispering along as fast as i can, they (the pedestrians / animals / other cyclists / forestry employees) may not hear me coming but they'll certainly see me ( which is an image in itself 😱😂 )

Yorkshire UK, photo from two weeks ago, we somehow found the only wet place in the UK, it rained both days we were up there!!.
Most of the UK is currently having a heatwave with drought declared in some areas.

Another Merida… sweet!
Yup… You are spot on. I kinda chose the never grow up option!
That’s Marlette Lake above Lake Tahoe
We do luv Lake Tahoe. Last time we were there in April we drove our car all around the entire lake. It was sunny and warm on maybe the eastern side and as we drove higher up the western side we got caught in a snow squall.

Yes, the Merida is more than a bit pricey and it is many times a better bike than I am a rider. But I need all the help I can get!

I can confirm that he most definitely pushes harder on the Mtn bike than most 60 yr olds 😳. I’m the younger wife (52) that has to fix all his “hurts”.. and there are many!😂
