Answered What is causing my cranks/bottom bracket to creak?

Hi all.

My 2018 Merida E160 900E has done around 3800km now.

For the last 200km or so, there has been a creak coming from the crank/bottom bracket area. There are two creaks per revolution on the crank. It's a very annoying "tick - tick" sound.

This afternoon, I took the crank arms off. I can rock the splined through-shaft by hand. There is not much movement, but it is definitely observable.

Anyone experienced this before? Is it any easy fix or expensive repair?

Thanks all.

Main axle bearings.
There's not really a DIY fix.
Either replace the motor or find a company that repair Shimano motors. (assuming a 2018 bike will be past its 2yr warranty period)

Thanks Gary. I've done some more research now and found a good thread on replacing axle bearings on the E8000 motors.

I'll sleep on it for a few nights then decide if the "tick, tick" really does annoy me to the point where bearing replacement is worth pursuing.
