What did you buy your ebike this week?

This last week has seen a butt ton of new parts show up at my front door. They're for a new bike and I want better parts than what it came with. Here's a picture that I thought came out particularly well.

I'm not now. 😭 Was a visit to York to see my daughter at University & Peaty's on the way home but she's come down with flu, so it's off.On the bright side, I am free for a ride now. Swings & roundabouts.

That sucks. But Yay LOL

Grabbed one of Silca's Elettroco Ultimate Inflator pumps. Mostly as a modern alternative to keeping a floor pump in my apartment. Elettrico_ULTIMATE_quarter_back_DSC_3254_540x.png

A pair of rechargeable Ocoopa UT5 DuoHeat hand/pocket warmers from Amazon UK. For £18.99 pair if they help get the fingers and hands warm (and keep the family jewels toasty) in winter I'll be happy 😁

Bloody hell, they look super safe!
About 60 years ago when fishing in Winter, I used to take a pocket handwarmer with me (very popular at the time). It was a nickel plated steel case full of wadding. The idea was that you tipped a specified amount of lighter fuel into the wadding and then put the cap on. The cap contained a piece of similar wadding but with a steel wire wrapped around it, a bit like a coil spring. You had to light the wadding surrounded by the coil spring, leave it long enough for the wire to glow red. Then blow it out and immediately put the cap back on to the body!

The glowing wire was kept glowing by the lighter fuel fumes released from the wadding in the body. Yes that's right, you had a lighter fuel powered bomb in your pocket. :ROFLMAO:
The heat was released slowly as the lighter fuel was consumed. It lasted all day as I recall. I never heard of any problems, but there was no internet in those days.
God knows what would have happened if the handwarmer tilted in your pocket and neat lighter fuel flowed onto the glowing wire!! There may be hundreds of maimed fisherman still alive today!

The worst that happened to me was my hands smelled of lighter fuel. Not ideal for a fisherman. :ROFLMAO:

PS: I just Googled to see if I could get an image. To my surprise, they are still being sold today!!!

I've got a couple of Zippo ones.

I looked at those, the Zippo version, but they're too large to carry in your trouser pockets when riding or pop into your gloves or down the side of your shoes when you've stopped...and you'd need 2 Mine are quite small at approx 3" L x 1.5" W X 1/2" thick, weigh around 70g each and should last around 5hrs before a recharge. I was sick of getting cold numb fingers even through winter gloves.

They're fine for me, but I guess it depends how tight your pants are or how small your pockets are.
Mine definitely don't fit in my gloves.
They also do smaller ones
Height: 2.9″
Width: 2.0″
Depth: 0.6″
Weight: 1.8 oz.

I still have one of those hand warmers, a Peacock hand warmer, it was fantastic especially when Pike fishing in the depths of winter 😉

I tried out my super cheap Ali Express (£3.31) riding glasses that arrived yesterday. I expected them to be useless, so was surprised that they fit good, don't squeak, the large lens coverage keeps the wind off your face and they don't steam up. The chromatic lense actually works (the sun came out and they dimmed instantly) I'm well chuffed tbh.

I tried out the Ocoopa pocket/hand warmers (Amazon UK), and they're bleedin' brill, kept them in my trouser pockets and you definitely notice the warmth even though it wasn't that cold today, around 10C. They lasted my three hour ride easily before I switched them off when I got back. Pictured below with my new cheapo AliEx Poc gloves (highly, highly doubtful) for a size comparison.....oh and the photo chromatic AliEx glasses.

I have these by the same manufacturer under a different brand.
Have had a couple of pairs and passed them onto my boys and they also love them.
My ones also have an optical insert, which is awesome for me, as I get chronic eye fatigue if I don't wear my glasses for too long and I don't want to wear my $1800 glasses while mountainbiking.

So I went to Peaty's yesterday. I also had to order a new mini remote as i lost my (already broken) one, on saturday.

So from my haul, I've saved big!
Helmet £110 - £20
Fox Transfer £350. - £50
TRP 220 2.3mm Rotors £30 each -£10
TRP cassette £350 -£50
Peatys Grips £25 (RRP) X3 £75 - £50
Tubeless valves£12.99 - £20 2 pairs.
Roughly £900, and I spent £200 with £50 back for grips. (as bought for mates)
