Trek Fuel EXe 500wh Battery Project

since you abandoned this project, is there a chance to get the 3d print parts stls? (or even the cad )?

I would really try to build this for my trek fuel exe and try it out

Would there be a way to adapt a second 360w main battery to plug into the charging port and put it on the down tube. That would be 720w of battery. That would be amazing.

Just carry a spare in your backpack and swap it over when the first one is flat, takes 5 minutes, is easy.

Yeah no. Number one, I wear a small pack. So, it wouldn’t fit. And number two, there’s no way I’m putting something like that in my pack to be landed on in a fall. I already broke 5 ribs from landing on my side with my arm under me.

Digging this thead up from the dead…..
Maybe the new tq 500 watt battery can be adapted to fit the exe downtube?!…

Do we have any knowledge summary from this project?
Was the project success or not, is it being used by OP?
Files of the 3d print for the new cell size?
Anything that someone can take and move to next level.

  • Has there be a better solution such as adaptation of newly released higher capacity TQ battery for Trek Ex-e?
  • Any info from TQ / Trek if they intend to release large capacity battery that will fit into existing tube of Ex-e? ... even marginal increase would be welcome.. imagine higher capacity cells that give instead of 360Wh maybe 420 or 450.
  • I imagine TQ cannot release anything by themselves without consulting with Trek, as they are likely bound by agreement. And you can bet, Trek wants you to buy a new bike rather than upgrade existing one ... but I give them the benefit of doubt that they actually care about the cycling community and are not only after profits. Surprise us Trek ! We already paid enough for the bikes and still would be paying for the upgrade battery. Win Win.
  • Batteries require knowledge and product should be safe and certified, so I am sure everyone involved is realizing the risk of tinkering here... best would be get solution from TQ.
