I use this Tannus and I am happy with it. But after 40 seconds I have to open the first beer to cool down.
Otherwise I would become hulkish green and would freak out.

"We put them first time on our ebikes almost 5 years ago and... I've forgot what's flat tyre since then. I've actually forgot about it as well until I needed to change my tyres as they wear out! :D
When I've got my new bike this spring - I've put them back - whole season, 1500 km done and no single puncture."

Do you deflate after every ride??

PS: I never deflate the tires after a ride.
When I have to change the tire, I have to use a new Tannus, because it gets wider and do not fit anymore. Still happy.

I had a set put in my son's tires. He had 5 flats, 5 weekends in a row. That was enough for me to put the money on the table. He has had no flats since. So, if anybody else gets a flat, they get the inserts as well. I don't mind the maintenance. But I'd much rather be riding then fixing flats. Money well spent, as far as I'm concerned.

Since getting the new bike, I've been riding much more aggressively. And have punctured the rear tube in 3 of the last 6 rides. Most have been impact pinches. Desperately trying not to use tubeless and sealant. I installed the Tannus insert on my rear tyre today.

A couple of pointers for easy istallation. Put the tube in the insert before installation in the tyre. And spray the insert with soapy water, especially around the bead before installing. It did go in fairly straight forward. If I have a failure I will just remove the tube and insert, and install a tube, as I don't think I want to try to install the insert on the trail.

Secondly. To reduce weight, I have ordered a 60 gram TPU tube. So with the fact I can run the EXO casing with the insert. There isn't a huge weight difference to running tubeless with sealant and DD casings.

I'll report back on the performance.

Why?

Because it's messy when I do puncture or peel a bead off, and need to throw in a tube. It's also messy when I swap tyres at home to do my gravel rides. I run much lower rolling resistance tyres when doing these rides as we ride much further, and I need as much range as possible. I also run the TPU tubes on these rides, so it's actually lighter than running sealant. I don't run inserts on these rides as I have never punctured.

I have my tool chest, workshop and bike storage area in my movie room, which has become my little man cave. And if I start making a mess, I will be swiftly kicked out of there by the Mrs.

If the inserts don't work well. I will consider building a DD tubeless wheel with sealant, so I can just swap wheels. But I want to try the Tannus inserts first.

First run and wow.

I normally run 28psi in the rear, and there are a set of 7 stairs I jump, and have twice pinched the tube, so I stopped trying to jump them. Well with the tannus inserts I inflated to 24psi and jumped these stairs 4 times, no issue. But the most amazing thing is how much it reduced the pinging of the rear of the bike. The bike landed and felt so much more damped.

The other thing is due to the reduced pinging, I seem to be using slightly less travel on the rear shock. It seems the tyre is doing some of the suspension.

I am genuinely amazed at the difference these inserts have made.

First trail test on the weekend. But so far it's a huge thumbs up.

BTW. I have one of those little Lipo battery electronic inflators with a gauge. So I am deflating the tyre after the ride, as it takes seconds before the next ride to inflate, and I always check my tyre pressures before a ride anyway.

So ....... Complete and utter success with these inserts. A couple of months in and zero punctures, even though I'm running the rear at 22psi. So I went and got a 29er tannus insert for my front wheel, which I'm running at 20psi. I have also fitted 60 gram TPU tubes to both the front and the rear. They are working perfectly. And the weight reduction is significant.

This means I am completely protected against punctures. And even if I do manage to puncture. I can use the ride flat capability of these inserts to get me back to safety. Or I can fit the spare tube I'm carrying.

I would have to rate this as one of the best upgrades I have made to my EMTB. Thoroughly recommend this upgrade, instead of going tubeless.

The joy of autumn...hedge cutting. I just dug three blackthorn spikes out of my tyres and wondered if there was a better way.

Anyone used tannus inserts. They look good but there's got to be down side.

Nigel
Been using them for years, no punctures, they do squash over time and need to be replaced even at 25psi. I don't deflate after every ride any more - too much of a faff! They don't seem to recover when deflated anyway.

I clean the bike and drivetrain after every ride. So deflating the tyres is part of this process. I then always check tyre pressure before a ride, with a miniature Lipo inflater, and inflate back to 22psi. It just takes 30 seconds. It does seem to make the inserts last much longer.

I just removed my rear insert after 3 months to fit the TPU Tube. It seems it's in as new condition.
