SZZS specific CEF50-main thread (initial builds and troubleshooting related only)

Just a note that the top tube on-off switch that comes with the 720wh batteries can fail if it gets wet. I have had mine go out twice and it took 24hrs and it dried out and then continued to work. But I am going to get a spare. I don't want to have to be without the bike for three weeks if one fails. I put clear packing tape over it now. Button still works and prevents water from getting in.

I finished building my CEF50 after I painted it with Kustom Cans Chromacoat Sunrise. I also have a Lightcarbon LCE930 and will try to give an honest evaluation of the two after I get some miles on the CEF50.

Nice overall.👊 How's the integrated top tube screen working for trail vision heads up?. Separate pic.

Were these supposed to come with the 720wh battery option? Mine didn't come with one.

Thanks! I haven't had a chance to ride it due to the rain and cold here in Austin. I'm hoping to ride it tomorrow night after work.
Should be interesting (among many things) from the bar mount display of your LC930 compared to the top tube display of the latest CEF50 frame.

Also, happy to see the traditional side cable mounts!

In general, I'm glad to see Bafang is also willing to keep updated...the top tube display shows they're willing to "innovate" a bit more! Looks slick and modern too!

Wishlist: Maybe Bafang will do their own motor gear box or MGU🤞

I am going to replace my Markhor Kun Lun top tube display to handlebar display. I found it very difficult to see when you are DH or fast speed. Especially having a M560 1300w motor when constant changing power.

Yeah, I rented a Pivot shuttle SL with the Fazua60 for a day. It had a top tube display and it was a little awkward especially in chunky tech sections. But I figured I just wasn't accustomed to it. My reflex was to look at the stem searching for the display first as a better field of vision.

But still the integrated top tube looks super clean in the cockpit. For me, I still think the handlebar works well❤️, but just adds extra cockpit clutter.😝

Hi guys
today I did my first bike test ride premise for me this is my first E-bike I was pleasantly impressed when tackling the climbs I'm used to high pedaling frequencies and I felt good I didn't have any sensation of the wall when I went over the top the 25 km was nice, the frame was smooth too, the geometry and everything else, I had a great time, nice bike, I'm satisfied with the choice I made I covered 26 km with a difference in altitude of 376 mt absurd consumption only 8% I was amazed well

Que talla has pedido y cuánto mides? Que batería llevas ?

I took the Medium size I'm 173 tall 720wh battery the firmware is Eroad that's why it consumed little now with Emtb firmware the consumption is different now it pushes well uphill🚴💥

If I understand, with emtb firmware you get more push uphill? Which firmware did you install?

Hello everyone !

I'm very excited to build a CEF50 bike.

What I would like is to buy the kit from szzsbike and "sacrifice" components from an Orbea Occam H10 and transfer them to the new ebike.
The question is: Will the Fox Float Performance 34 fork be OK for trail riding ? Because everything else (Shimano XT transmission + Deore cassete + XT brakes), 210x50 Fox Float factory suspenssion, 29" Raceface AR 30c wheels should be 1:1 transferable.
Is there anything wrong with this ideea and components.

Thank you.

Thank you mike_kelly for the answer. Why did you sacrifice the Rise for this build, I mean if I've had a Rise I think it would have been OK for my type of ride. But the price of the Rise is higher than that of a coustom build.

I had a unique reason. I want to pull a solar trailer on a long expedition. Orbea does not allow pulling trailers but the CEF50 approved using the bike for towing. I like the CEF50 more than the Rise afterall. The M820 has a little more power than the EP8R. The M820 is more available for repairs.
But most users here bought the CEF50 for what it was designed for...Enduro. So most builds use 160/170mm forks.

Hi, keep in mind that in size M the fork steerer must be at least 20 cm otherwise you won't have space to mount the handlebar stem

Did anybody have problems with battery? Here are 2 videos showing my problem:

- YouTube

My problem:

Upon receiving the bike, I fully charged the battery to 100%. I then rode approximately 100km. During this time, I experienced frequent power losses from the motor, with the support cutting out intermittently. After depleting the battery to 20%, I recharged it.

Today, I went for another ride. The motor again experienced intermittent power loss. After a few kilometers, the battery level dropped to 83%, and then the motor completely lost power, with the battery level showing 0%. I had to stop and turn off the motor. When I turned it back on, the battery showed over 90%, but I could only travel about 100 meters before the motor lost power again, and the battery dropped to 0%.

Are you using the stock 720Wh battery that comes from SZZS?

That sucks hopefully something simple and not a nightmare like a bad battery cell. 😜

Maybe first recheck all your connections that cables and wiring aren't loose leading to intermittent discharging? That will probably mean pulling down the motor and removing the battery to even diagnose it more effectively.

And then video all that as well in order to document and send to SZZS with the intent that you might have to eventually make a warranty claim on the battery. Fortunately, if so, they "should" have them in stock in order to swap it out asap. The sooner the better to alert them of the problem, so they know your bike is brand new and outta the box.

Unless someone else has a better idea on trouble-shooting a new battery?

Hello, I had a similar problem and sometimes when I turned it on it gave error 30. The solution was simple and laborious because I had to disassemble the motor, I disconnected the cables and sprayed contact cleaner, waited for it to dry well, reconnected it and had no more problems.

My bike has similar problems when motor it's overheat, power losses , off on off on. So either I stop for a while or shift to E and slowly cycle for it to cool or off my motor. As your battery drop to zero, it's might be your battery BMS encounter overheat and completely shut down to prevent it or cable connection issues.
