ok...I am going to try this...I see the NM slider (to go from 60-85), Is there a setting/slider somewhere to raise the overall watt output above 350?
It's in the same place as the torque limits!

Orbea Rise owners who have derestricted!!!
When you up the torque/power, does the Rise motor still require high pedal cadence to utilize the torque or does the Stunlocker just turn the motor into a standard EP8 where the torque comes on at slow cadence?

If you have the premium license on ST Unlocker try it...you can adjust Watts and NM, so in theory it would runlike a normal ep8 just drain your battery faster...you would be the first!

You said you were going to try it LOL. My bike hasn’t even arrived yet. I am mulleting the rise with a longer 216x63 shock so it will be a 160/160 travel mullet bike and wanted the change the wheel circumference otherwise I would lose top speed with the smaller wheel. I wonder if doing this and not touching the sliders would remove the Orbea EP8 RS’s assist profile and make it standard EP8 assist profile but set to 60Nm. Lots of unknowns which is why I am waiting for you to do it ?

Fair enough...lol. I hear you! I don’t have the premium app yet and really want someone else to try it before I do....but I am very tempted but the truth is I love the rest the bike rides now so I would be doing it just to do it

About EP8 regulation log:

I thought the STEPS system add a new log record automatically (I couldn't check it as I didn't get my EP8 yet), but those "smart" guys from Shimano made an extra command to add an entry to the regulation log. So, if you change the region/circumference in STUnlocker, no entries are added to the log. And, it turns out that all Shimano stories that now (with EP8) they will see "derestriction" changes are just a "scary" story.

Hello, ive got some questions maybe somebody can help me with. ^^

1. Is it possible to change the tire circumference on an ep8 with drive unit version 4.0.2 using the actual st unlocker app?
2. Can shimano somehow see who made those changes and when/how?
3. How much is the full license right now and what paypment methose are there?

I've got a premium version, running perfectly with e8000 on my Focus Jam 2 now.

Was thinking - it would be nice to have 2 eco settings: one with the very low assist (like for gravel roads), another one with medium (like the usual eco mode) and the third one like the trail.

So ideally it would be:

eco -> light assist
trail -> medium
boost -> trail

Since app allows to set both torque and assist cutoff point, this is theory should be doable. The only question is: is there anything specific to these modes, which app cannot really change? So that even if boost settings are the same as trail, drive actually behaves differently?

Has anyone actually tried/tested/verified ST Unlocker , EMAX or alternative for the Orbea Rise EP8 RS motor? Particularly can you get 85nm from any of these techniques? Can you get 20mph or more etc. thanks all.

ST Unlocker works fine for ep8 RS...to get 20mph you need the premium version and 4.0.2 fw. on he ep8...as far as unlocking 85nm you can do it in the premium version of ST Unlocker....I think we are all waiting for the first person to try it...Vadl can help

thanks for the reply. I don't think i will be the one to try this first, especially as the developer doesn't have the motor to test on themselves (not questioning the solutions capability), so i will join the queue of those waiting. I admire anyone who does and can verify :).

So the key point here if I understand it correctly, is it's not as simple as downloading the App and paying for a premium license to change the country to the United States.

You also have to get the 4.0.2 FW and downgrade the EP8 RS FW to this older version, correct?

I understood you had to do this if you wanted increase the engine power settings to 85nm, but had hoped/thought that to change the country to the US 20mph, you didn't need to obtain and download older firmware to the EP8 RS.

Given the EP8 RS is new, does it fully support the old Firmware from the EP8? Apologies, I'm a Bosch guy so not experienced the EP8 yet...

My Kona has the Steps 8000 motor and unfortunately l downloaded the latest Shimano update when l
bought the bike.
lf you do this, it's necessary to re install the earlier software if you want to alter the wheel size or maximum assist speed.

lt's not actually that difficult to do, you have to connect your phone to your laptop, which involves installing driver software (Win 7 did this automatically for my iphone) and then download the earlier software files, open the Shimano app on the phone through the laptop, and upload the files to the app.

The only issue l had was, the files uploaded as a zip file and it appears they need to be individually installed.
After a bit of messing around l managed to do it.
Then you pair the phone with the bike, and it says there's a FW update, which you accept, and it installs the earlier FW
After that you can use the premium Stunlocker app to change the speed and wheel size.

Once it's installed you then need to connect the phone to the PC again and delete the files.

It sounds complicated but only took me
half an hour and l am not great with this kind of thing.

E6100 motor with E7000 display working perfectly (minus the speed reading) I'll see if I can adjust the % to get it close
Took me a bit of fiddling with the Ifun tool to get the mac to connect to the iphone but once I got the idea it was easy.

I have an EP8 RS and want to keep the motor characteristics the same since it maximizes battery life.

My question is if I change the wheel circumference in the premium app, will this Also Update the Motor Characteristic to become a Normal EP8?

l found the wheel circumference was set incorrectly at 2350mm

l measured it at an actual 2260mm

So l reset it to that, which did make the bikes speedometer and odometer a bit more accurate and now agrees with my Strava ride record.

Obviously it's possible to set it to whatever you want, and the lower the circumference the faster the bike will go under motor assist (although the speedometer will claim it's no faster of course)

I just wanted it to be correct.
