What would expect the ongoing life to be for a 2017 battery showing three full charges and low mileage?
Stored in the dry but know charge state when stored.
Is there a time expired as well as number of charges?

Unfortunately, there's probably too many variables with batteries to say with any certainty.

I bought all the 36v lithium ion dewalt tools when they came out with 6 batteries.

Within 2 years three had died completely. The other three were still going strong more than ten years later. The controllers have advanced a long way since then and the battery chemistry. So in theory, it's probably fine, but there's no way to guarantee that.

I bought a lithium ion panasonic laptop battery for a project a few years ago, this had been sitting new and unused for 5 years and despite thinking it would be no good, it worked fine for 5 years of use.

Batteries should never be stored at full charge.

Take it to a dealer, they can hook it up to a computer for a diagnostics report.

I read that new batteries are supplied in deep sleep mode and can be stored like that for potentially years and there is virtually no battery drain..... but once charged for the first time that deep sleep mode is no longer available. Batteries do then have a sleep mode ( not deep sleep) where battery drain is low but not as low as "deep sleep". So a battery that has been used but then stored for an extended period of time would be OK if some charge was replaced occasionally such that it was not left completely discharged. If on the other hand it was merely left and allowed to drain completely it is likely the cells would be damaged. So no way to tell if the battery is any good other than having a test done that shows the state of each cell......ps just read another battery tip in the Spec manual...….after charging, allow the battery to stand for c 8 hours before use.

Do’s and don’ts summary of how to use, maintain and dispose of batteries. Source: BU-706
How to prolong battery life: Keep cool. Operate in mid state of charge 30–80%
Discharge: Prevent full cycles, apply some charge after a full discharge to keep protection circuit alive.
Best way to charge: Partial and random charge is fine; doesn't need full charge; keep battery cool.
Storage: Store at 40% charge in cool place.
Transport: See BU-704a Shipping Lithium-based Batteries
Disposal: Low toxicity. Can be disposed in low volume. Best to recycle.
