Specialized Turbo Kenevo SL Expert - probably factory locked. What would you do?

Yo,

I recently picked up a 2022 Turbo Kenevo SL Expert for $2,500. The bike was new, wrapped in factory stickers and everything. My friend works in a pawn shop, and sometimes, if something interesting comes up, he calls me before entering the thing in the system. Even with the electronics being a question mark, the price was too good to pass up just for the value of the frame and the parts alone.

As expected for the price, it’s currently "locked". The MasterMind TCU is showing the turtle icon and limits the speed to 15km/h no controls available on the screen. I’m well aware of the situation: it’s almost certainly stuck in the factory "Pre-Activation" state that requires a dealer’s B2B handover via Turbo Studio.

I'm on the fence about even looking for a shop to try an activation. Pretty sure there's a high risk that Specialized will remotely brick the system or flag the serial if the history is unknown.

I’m weighing my options. I haven't connected it to the app or anything, took it apart, thought that I could hack a bike, but who knew that Specialized is actually the worst company for this, because from everything I read, there is no way to force it to work.

Still have the option of opening the motor, try to make it work with a custom TCU, and a battery. Or remove everything from the motor to drop some weight, since I need to have the motor attached to ride the bike.

So yeah, just wondering what someone else would do in my shoes?

I would try and get my money back if I were you. 99% chance you just received stolen goods.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure it is, but I don't think it's stolen from someone, since it was wrapped, probably a shop, or the manufacturer. So I don't really care that much, to be honest. It's a great bike, and I've spent so much time on it already.

Im really thinking that I can successfully open up the motor and control it directly with a custom TCU.

The law doesn’t care who it was stolen from lol. I wouldn’t want to be involved with it, it’s going to be a bit of a brick no matter what.
