Other Specialized Rumours Thread (What's next?!)

It all makes sense now. It’s a plot to provide the authorities a tool to enforce that eMTB crackdown. Theirs won’t be restricted of course. 🚨

✅ 1. Original meaning of “woke”

The term woke originated in African American communities and meant:

“to be aware of social injustice, especially racism.”
(As in: stay awake to discrimination; don’t be ignorant of it.)

1st and foremost: don't feed wild life!
2nd - Don't bring that shit over here!

Thank you

The best rear rack to fit on a Levo so far has been the Tailfin. You change the rear thru-axle for a custom one that sticks a bit out. Takes seconds to attach and remove the rack itself. This new Specialized rack however is attached to the frame which is a huge plus. The 4X is like a Riese & Muller Delite but with better looks and performance, but perhaps less a comfortable riding position for long days.

Hold on, why is the resident bot posting stuff like this? As stupid as this bike (imo) I'm not sure I appreciate an AI bot coming on to threads and posting stuff like this. Hardly seems impartial?

I guess it picks up on the forum trends, but does look a bit weird.

The forum Avinox gulls do like to flap noisily and pick over the carcass of any Levo thread, I guess the bot is just trying to fit in…

I hope the next drop is the Levo P with pegs. I’d love to have a homie on the back cruising my local trails together.

The racks are actually pretty useful looking for the guys that do multi day trips. Strap a few spare batteries and gear on there. Seems like it’d just be an accessory vs a whole separate iteration of the model though.

I see the usefulness of the rear rack but not sure I would want a lot of weight on the front of the bike with the burly front rack. I don't have a vehicle in Alaska so when I am there I take my analog bike on the train from Anchorage to Denali to spend time bike packing. The first thing I discovered is that weight on the front of the bike is not your friend. I am experiencing the same situation having just finished an up and over Porezen Mountain Pass in Slovenia. I am not set up for carring gear so going uber minimal, even then what weight I have on my front bars is very noticeable on the down hill technical sections with a very light rear end. So I guess that I need a rear rack to balance things out.

Having a front and rear rack is good for weight distribution. Some items are large in volume but not that heavy, so you can always put those in front if you prefer. Lastly, a front rack can carry a bag of snacks or other things that you can easily access while riding.

Apparently there's now also a Vado 3X (full suspension Vado), so Specialized is getting more out of the 3.1 ecosystem. As with cars, each new model is heavier and larger than the previous, so I guess what many folks are waiting for is the next Levo SL which will be more like the earlier Levo generations.

After the Dakar one, I thought it might look cool as a Martini bike. I guess my colour choices were crap as it doesn't look very rugged !

Still think the concept suits the Gen4 frame and for a general use bike it's quite cool. Anyone going to buy one ? I think if it was €5k I might be slightly interested as a countryside commute and play bike if I could get it rothmans wrapped, at £12.5k or whatever it is, it doesn't even begin to enter my interest zone for what it is/would get used for.

For a commute I'd rather have the Vado 3X. For more general purpose the Levo with the bottom bracket raised, steep head tube angle and high rise handlebars for a more upright position. Base model is less than 5k euros, just add racks. Let me know if you find the Rothmans wrap :)

Thing is I am not against the idea of this off road touring emtb but Specialized already had this covered by the Tero X. I am also not against have racks that are compatible with the Levo or other bikes. I just mostly think releasing this as a whole bike (an expensive one at that) and building a whole marketing narrative round it is just so fucking cheesy. It also looks a bit silly when you have Avinox hoovering up the emtb market from under them. Like THIS is what you have been working on in the meantime?! Hopefully they are actually working on some good stuff in the meantime that can put them back at the pointy end. The Levo 5 better be amazing :D

Do the lights render the front rack useless or the other way round?

Liking the Fox 33s. Must be very lightweight? 😁

The lights are designed to be used with the front rack mount fish tank. This guarantees a source of drinking water and fresh food to eat when you're on your desert expedition.

The Fox 33's were prototypes developed for the Levo RXR - combining all the features from the lightest and heaviest levo's into an even more SuperNatural experience (this hasn't been released yet, but should have 120mm or less travel front and back and weigh at least 27kg's and has a reverse gear)

These should be released about the same time as the new Fox 69. From Fox "Breaking from our traditional sizing system, the 69 is a halfway house fork for the undecided. Featuring a 38mm traditional stanchion on the left where you can utilise all your existing brake setups, paired with an inverted podium style stanchion on the right - giving you the best and worst of both worlds"

It really is the Porsche 911 Dakar of mountain bikes tho.

Well, the original Beetle became a 911 and so this must be the latest evolution of the VW Kübel. Good Ferdinand Porsche does not need to see that.

And yes, it always was a little bit more expensive becoming and being a Porsche owner:
