just watched a French video about a guy doing a raffle of a new Santa Cruz on his channel. He dropped a heavy object on top of the top tube while loading the bike in his van. Of course the top tube was cracked open. Under crash replacement Santa Cruz sold him a new frame including the rear triangle for 900 euro (1/4 of the normal price). So it is possible but as you can see in the video, you need a good dealer to help you. I ride motorcycles for 35 years & if you do not have a strong relationship with a good dealer you are screwed especially when riding KTM.


Sorry to insist but your leg or hip did not do that. It must have been something hard & somewhat pointy (lots of force applied at a specific spot on your top tube). Put it this way if I take a piece of carbon like the Levo 4 top tube & smash it really hard against your leg or hip 100% it will be you before the carbon tube

You're talking to someone who currently has a messed up shoulder, and 3 pins in their hand from going full send 5 weeks ago. Consider yourself lucky you only broke the bike instead of yourself.

Hang on. It was a gentle fall where the bike landed on your leg like had happened many times before, but at the same time you were riding hard enough to find the limit of your bike?

I’m not sure that both can be true?
 
Hi everyone, if anyone is experiencing a persistent rattle here’s what I found:

Issue
  • Rattle persists even after removing the SWAT tool.
  • Noise is likely from the battery eyelet around the dowel, allowing slight battery movement.
Potential fixes for Specialized
  • Enlarge the battery hole so a rubber sleeve can be fitted over the dowel.
  • Add a rubber strip to the ridge inside the down tube.
  • Add an O-ring to the battery cover to keep pressure on the battery bracket.
My fix
  • Added small pieces of foam in two key spots, which completely removed the rattle and stopped battery movement. Refer to attached images.
  • To test if this is your noise source: remove the battery cover, hold the battery in place, and wiggle it toward the top and bottom of the frame tube.

The new cradle fixed my rattle. Do you have the updated cradle?

I’m not sure whether I have the updated cradle. I did experience the disconnect issues, but Specialized’s solution at the time was to adjust the cradle rather than replace it. Have they since released an updated version?

In my case, the rattle wasn’t coming from the bottom; it was from the top. It turned out to be movement in the eyelet, which made noise when hitting the dowel. I’ve circled the area in the attachment. It was really easy to replicate with the cover off and the battery still in place.

Yes, there is an updated version. Your LBS has to adjust the stock cradle first before they will replace it. Mine was rattling the same as yours at the eyelet. The black power-coat was even rubbing off. If I were you Id take it to the LBS again and ask for the new cradle.

Thanks mate, I’ll give it a crack. If I remove the foam and that fixes it too then I’ll remove or update this post.

My motor did sometimes cut off and I got the new spring loaded version back in August.
Now the battery is attacked very tight, no rattle or cut off.

I can't tell if you're happy with your decision so far to own an Amflow or with a decision so far to buy a new Levo?
 
Amflow was a bit big for me..I like a smaller bike so normally run large. Went XL which i have had before in other ebikes (levo s5 etc) and was just a bit of a boat. I wanted to swap to something smaller and the levo was my cheapest option as i know a dealer who sorted me out a good price. I never overly liked the look of the amflow, but had a opportunity to try it out and the motor system did not disappoint just the bike itself.

not sure if its just a sizing issue but the levo is night and day a better bike. The motor system is better on the Avinox the amount you can do from the top tube alone is insane. The levos buttons was pretty confusing and clunky but ive always loved microtune so using that and the new dynamic has been my go too. Id say battery is better on the amflow again, seemed to last longer in auto than in the dynamic microtune function of specialized.
I think this swap has cemented im more a good bike guy then good motor guy. The motor difference isnt really a issue for me, though the fast charging will be missed. Battery differences i guess i cant judge after only one ride but as stated before the amflow was pretty damn good on battery.

if any amflow people are lurking here mine will be up for sale shortly :D

My suspicions. Confirmed.
Amflow is a motor with a frame to hold it
Specialized is a frame with a motor to power it
Makes sense to me.
 
So I had the new cradle installed and it was flawless for a handful of rides. It started surging randomly on one ride and then the next ride it actually cut the power completely and gave the error that the battery was disconnected. I’m going to clean the battery connectors and see how it goes. Bummer.

So the new cradles are in short supply in the US. They actually have to file warranty to get one. I've proactively disconnected the battery a couple of times to file the warranty claim, but I won't have them put the new nest in till something happens and I need it. That said, when I purchased the bike the dealer had me flip the bike upside down, remove the bash guard and loosen the bolt holding the nest, then push the nest upwards as much as I could with the battery installed. it created a very tight fit for the battery and I've had no issues since. The dealer wanted me to see a trailside fix for the bike should I run into problem.

I had my battery cut out a few times after not removing it for a few months. Interesting that even with the new cradle there can still be a problem, so i carefully reseated the crade with the bike upside down. I don't like the mounting system with the bolts only on one side and the ability for the cradle to twist sideways. I made sure it was in as tight and square as possible, added some dielectric grease on the contacts. Worked fine on my ride yesterday.
 
new cradle doesn't solve the issue - just makes it bearable
my mates bike cuts out all the time even with the new cradle and after having it set by the shop
this "new" levo is a bitter pill to swallow
 
My G4 works fine with the new cradle, even after smashing down 1,000’s of metres of rocky trails.

My mates bikes work fine with the original cradle with zero issues.

Fingers crossed it continues, although I am not worried. These bikes get such a beating that they are bound to have a few issues.

Never missed a days riding yet, even with 6 replacement Gen 3 motors.

I was losing power multiple times per ride. I just got the new cradle installed at my bike shop, which took about a week in the US. No problems since. I also had an annoying rattle which I hadn’t taken the time to fully troubleshoot. It’s gone now. Must have been the battery. So the cradle fixed two problems for me. Absolutely loving this bike!
