If a gen 3 bike is on a car rack or on a tailgate you can't get the battery out. Bottom mount like gen 1 requires the battery itself to be stronger structurally so it will be heavier and a cover in that area is too vulnerable so sideload with a simple rectangular battery is the best compromise. I bet Spesh had endless meetings about this. How does the side load makes sense? The Rail+ comes out faster and its on the bottom of the down tube....
where is the next gen sram powertrain? They must be having problems. That's just fashion at this point. The roadies are way worse in that regard as the bikes are way less technically complex with way longer innovation cycles and they also don't differ that much from manufacturer to another. Yet the roadies obsess over which team replica jersey they wear etc. Its a bit like soccer fans buying overpriced jerseys from some popular soccer player or club.
For price sentitive folks things will get interesting once the german direct to consumer brands start implementing the new generation of motors.

I think they ran into timing/supply chain problems with covid which probably delayed the whole thing. They are like one product cycle behind everyone in the motor department. When the drivetrain came out and was finally widely available the motor was out for a few years from other brands.where is the next gen sram powertrain? They must be having problems.
I rate the 2 bikes in the video amflow carbon pl and levo comp carbon.S-Works 12amp charger![]()
I think like all big ships, they took too long to turn. One advantage of a removable battery is taking it out before having it to lift in on a rack etc.

You will need a 27.5” rear wheel if you don’t already have one.Wondering Is the gen-4 s-works frameset option good to swap over using parts from gen 2 comp carbon?

Yeh got that - had some good times on the comp carbon. Could sell off the 700wh battery to contributeYou will need a 27.5” rear wheel if you don’t already have one.
What fork did that come with? You'll most likely be best off with a Fox 38 or Zeb on the new Levo.Wondering Is the gen-4 s-works frameset option good to swap over using parts from gen 2 comp carbon?
I did an upgrade to Fox factory 36 but happy to change to Zeb.What fork did that come with? You'll most likely be best off with a Fox 38 or Zeb on the new Levo.
Hard not to dis the new Levo when you look at all or most of the numbers, but to be fair he liked the system the most as an overall package.

Why do you take the battery out when its covered with mud?Having owned a SC Heckler for 4years, I can say that the side load battery makes a lot more sense when the bike is covered in mud.
it was only a 500w/h and I’d have to take a 2nd battery with me on every ride. Why do you take the battery out when it’s covered with mud?
If you haven't been following along, let me refresh your memory......Everyone is saying the reason for the side mount battery was for quick removal of the battery, which is not the case. The more likely reason is,.......It was a DEI hire, put in charge of the project that screw things up!!Why is a couple of seconds any problems and Specialized battery takes less than 10 seconds to remove.
if it would be any quicker battery would probably fly off while riding. If you haven't been following along, let me refresh your memory......Everyone is saying the reason for the side mount battery was for quick removal of the battery, which is not the case. I don't get the hype over a removable battery. My two old Scott eride had it, battery was out once or twice. Had two mondrakers with no removable battery, not a problem. And now my new Mondraker has a removable battery, and not planning to remove it. Yes, there may be a few people who needs to take it, but I do believe the majority of us don't really need it.Why a side battery hatch? I’m not a fan of that placement—I got rid of my Trek Rail because of it; it rattled like a bucket of bolts. Plus, the battery sits higher, which raises the center of mass. I think that’s part of why the Rail feels sluggish compared to the old Levo. On top of that, I feel like this kind of battery placement also compromises frame strength. And please don’t tell me the motor clunks like a Bosch on the downhills.
Feels like everything I didn’t like about the Rail has made its way into the new Levo.
People complaining about the eMTB prices should take a look at road bike prices. They cost the same and don't have a motor, battery, front or rear suspension !
If you mean the spider fitting to the motor… it is a clean NO. New Design!Hi all,
Do you know if the gen3 chainring is compatible with the the gen4? Same motor mount?
I plan to reuse my ochain currently bolted on my gen 3 onto my gen 4 ( when i received it )
Tks
Yes i mean "spider fitting"If you mean the spider fitting to the motor… it is a clean NO. New Design!
