People complaining about the eMTB prices should take a look at road bike prices. They cost the same and don't have a motor, battery, front or rear suspension !

That's just fashion at this point. The roadies are way worse in that regard as the bikes are way less technically complex with way longer innovation cycles and they also don't differ that much from manufacturer to another. Yet the roadies obsess over which team replica jersey they wear etc. Its a bit like soccer fans buying overpriced jerseys from some popular soccer player or club.

For price sentitive folks things will get interesting once the german direct to consumer brands start implementing the new generation of motors.

How does the side load makes sense? The Rail+ comes out faster and its on the bottom of the down tube....
If a gen 3 bike is on a car rack or on a tailgate you can't get the battery out. Bottom mount like gen 1 requires the battery itself to be stronger structurally so it will be heavier and a cover in that area is too vulnerable so sideload with a simple rectangular battery is the best compromise. I bet Spesh had endless meetings about this.

One advantage of a removable battery is taking it out before having it to lift in on a rack etc.

I think they ran into timing/supply chain problems with covid which probably delayed the whole thing. They are like one product cycle behind everyone in the motor department. When the drivetrain came out and was finally widely available the motor was out for a few years from other brands.

I think like all big ships, they took too long to turn. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Wondering Is the gen-4 s-works frameset option good to swap over using parts from gen 2 comp carbon?

I always wondered about road bike prices, what the heck 🤯, no extra parts the ones they have being fragile as fu...

Road bike tech is always lagging behind mtb...they realized pretty late that a bit wider with stronger sidewalls tire on today's quality of roads is faster, they are also investing insane amounts into aero r&d to gain 1% of less drag instead investing r&d into lightweight droppers to gain 10% less drag...but I know they will get there sometime in year 2127...

Then the ultimately boring racing format, every day they all start on the same point at the same time and every day they save energy in the main group to fight on climbs, ridiculous.

Let them start at the times the are lagging behind the leader, forbid groups of three or more and let riders ride like they are comfortable on bikes, there have been more crashes in the last years because of rules and the stupid racing format keeping them stacked like sardines in a can.

I will stop now🤣, afterall this is emtb forums.

🤨Crazy numbers of NM and battery.
If everything gets stronger and stronger
It will be an electric motorbike like a Stark Varg soon.

Why is a couple of seconds any problems and Specialized battery takes less than 10 seconds to remove.
If you haven't been following along, let me refresh your memory......Everyone is saying the reason for the side mount battery was for quick removal of the battery, which is not the case. The more likely reason is,.......It was a DEI hire, put in charge of the project that screw things up!!

if it would be any quicker battery would probably fly off while riding.

Why a side battery hatch? I’m not a fan of that placement—I got rid of my Trek Rail because of it; it rattled like a bucket of bolts. Plus, the battery sits higher, which raises the center of mass. I think that’s part of why the Rail feels sluggish compared to the old Levo. On top of that, I feel like this kind of battery placement also compromises frame strength. And please don’t tell me the motor clunks like a Bosch on the downhills.

Feels like everything I didn’t like about the Rail has made its way into the new Levo.
I don't get the hype over a removable battery. My two old Scott eride had it, battery was out once or twice. Had two mondrakers with no removable battery, not a problem. And now my new Mondraker has a removable battery, and not planning to remove it. Yes, there may be a few people who needs to take it, but I do believe the majority of us don't really need it.

For any roadie its easy to justify, the tarmac sl8 weights 6.62 kg ! To justify the levo price we pay for gold suspension, so its a good investment :)

Hi all,

Do you know if the gen3 chainring is compatible with the the gen4? Same motor mount?

I plan to reuse my ochain currently bolted on my gen 3 onto my gen 4 ( when i received it )

Tks

If you mean the spider fitting to the motor… it is a clean NO. New Design!
