A contact in Europe told me that the Shuttle SL and AM will be consolidated into one bike and will use the Bosch SX motor and be around 42 pounds.

I'm flabbergasted. The AM is such a sweet do-it-all bike! Pivot should know this, as they've been selling like hotcakes. I don't want an SL. I don't want an LT. And I will NEVER buy one of those anemic fractional-power bikes. Luckily, I've got at least another year on this bike.

That sounds interesting as long as Bosch gives the SX motor a little more torque.

~40lb would be great!
The merging of travels makes sense and it follows what every manufacturer is doing...mid and long travel. The motor/battery weight penalty isn't compatible with the short travel audience.
Bosch SX though? I am not very convinced that there is sufficient interest from the high cadence spin all day riders.

Hopefully Bosch can fix the Rattle/Whine of the SX like they did on the new CX5. 600wh battery would be nice also

The Gen 5 Shuttle AM is almost out, I hear. Some shops have ridden them (quietly) already. The main diff is a bump in peak power from 85nm to I think 100nm. There are some changes to the motor materials and bearings to make it more durable. Other than that, I know nothing. I was just looking to buy one but now I may wait and forgo any sale discount.

I wonder if they'll increase the new screen too.

Hope so for you, but that’s not close to what I’ve heard.

What have you heard? I spoke to a shop that just got their hands on one and several of the guys had ridden it. I do not know any release date nor did they, but the test models are out.

Ah, I think you are right! I misunderstood what they were telling me. I am pretty sure that the new gen motor will get a power bump to 100 from 85. The Pivot guys apparently love the Race motor.

That 85 to 100nm upgrade for the Gen 5 has already been announced. Should be around July 1. The Race motor is awesome, but rattles like hell. The Gen 5 with the power upgrade and new emtb+ mode should blow the Race motor out of the water. I have both so no bias.

Very interesting, Bman! Dilemma, though I could wait a bit to find out more. I appreciate you setting me straight on the info.

Right, but Pivot doesn’t own any bikes with the Gen 5 motor, so to have this comment attached to a new Pivot release only makes sense if they plan on releasing a new AM with the CX motor. After all, Pivot was testing the AM with the Gen 5 adapter plate as we all saw. Let’s hope the were quick in redesign the AM front triangle as Pivot seen a lot of customers move to another brand with the Gen 5, just because they wanted the latest and greatest. Orbea was pretty quick with their Wild redesign. Pivot installing the SX motor isn’t the answer, nor will it generate the sales they want.

I am pretty new to the Bosch line of motors. Bman may be an insider of some sort and purposely not saying 100%. I have not been here for a couple of years so I'm not sure. I'll see what else I can find out. Another shop I know was very tight-lipped today but I am sure he wanted to move the current AM with the current Race motor- which is not a bad setup in its own right.

I ordered a Shuttle AM with the current Race motor and an extender battery. I think a new bike will be announced this coming week, but it will be above my pay grade. Looking froward to getting back on a full-power.

Sounds like new AM mid-power this week with SX. Full power is a ways out.

L

Launch is either Tues or Thurs this coming week. My connection is saying SX with 400wh. We shall find out soon
I was told full power, 40lbs, launch on the 20th...

...I would be fine with the SX personally, but I wonder if they are launching a new race version that is lighter than the Sx? Either way, looks like a bike I will have in the garage sooner than later!

40 lbs and full power sounds too good to be true. I guess we'll see this week.

Yeah but that is with the 400wh battery. Still pretty good. The 800 would probably add what- 3-4 lbs?

I heard it's full power...

I didn’t hear, but we know which bike sold the most out of the SL, AM and LT. The one bike that was tested with the Gen 5 and now is OOS, because there are no more Race or Gen 4 motors left is the AM. My money is on a full Power bike with a 600, 800wh option.

Today or tomorrow, I bet....even though I just ordered an AM, I am looking forward to seeing this new bike, and hoping I do not want to upgrade before my new AM even gets here.

There is no shortage of pudgy bikes with non-anemic power to chose from. The gains there are somewhat tiny incrementals. There are plenty of riders who don't mind the heft, but there are others who don't want to lose a feel of a normal bike. There is a demand for lighter, more powered, more range, more travel but it's hard for fit it all into one non-pudgy package. Uno Myth is an example of design in that direction.
