Hi,
Last Saturday morning was gorgeous; the hills were covered in fresh snow and not many people around. Three of us all on eBikes (2x Levo's and a Kenevo) had a fabulous ride on virgin snow upto 10cm deep. We were squealing with delight sliding, skidding, falling off at 1/2 mile an hour, laughing and getting cold toes.. (one of us had forgotten his riding shoes!!)
We even met some riders who gave us a "wee nip" of Jack Daniels Tennessee Fire to warm our cockles!

It was just below freezing and we did 18 miles covering Leith Hill, Pitch Hill and Holmbury Hill

The bikes took it all in there stride even though for 2 of us the last 1 mile was with zero assistance as we have ran out of juice!

Nothing that sausage rolls, sausage & leek slices and tea couldn't mend at Peaslake Shop
We had such a great time; these eMTBs are absolutely awesome and performed so well in the snow
Roll on next Sauturday morning where our 4th rider in our normal group gets his Levo too...

I was out riding about 10 miles east of you over at Reigate/Boxhill/Mickleham similar conditions, was a lot of fun

Don’t want to burst your perfect winterland bubble BUT we are only supposed to meet with one other person for exercise and we are definitely not supposed to pass around a flask of JD from a complete stranger ! At least you didn’t hurt yourselves ☺️

Luckily the drink wasn't spiked and I'm still around to reminisce on that great ride!! My mate in the background of my handle picture has since moved to the Alps and my other riding mate is recovering from being hit in the eye by a cricket ball... so no riding mates above my sons age of 14
I haven't been mtb ing for about a month now; are people still biking?
I'm waiting to buy another emtb as one of my boys wants my Levo 19...... I've been waiting months for availability and not sure which one to get.... probably depends on who can make them available first:
List in order of preference I think..!:
Decoy (if they get an EP8)
Trek Rail 9 (got one reserved)
Levo Carbon (had one on order since September...).. but too expensive now
Any suggestions??

God I miss the Surrey Hills! I love Hamburg except for the fact that it's just too damned flat.

Ace Bicycles in Guildford had a Whyte E-160 RS last week when I was there, and were doing a good deal on a 2020 E-180RS.

What I did was research lots of tests etc to decide which motor I thought was currently the best then go choose the bikes with that motor . Trek rail was what I bought and very pleased with it . After 3 years on shimano commencal things have certainly moved on . Was told june for new treks now

Thanks, I have told it could be March for a Trek 9..... but I've been advised on dates many times before when I was on lists for 2021 Levo's, so I take the dates with handfuls of salt
I do like the look of Trek; I've been on carbon bikes for 8 years; currently a Levo Comp Carbon; my only concern with the Rail 9 is it means going back to aluminium - not sure if this is a irrational concern..
Apparently a new Levo in March, a Decoy with EP8 early Feb.....so who knows.... and if I could order a Decoy, when will it be delivered?

Anyone got a GPX file for the mtb Surrey Hills 3 peak challenge by any chance?
A simple version. This was from 2017 & on a P bike in Summer. I know so many other tracks now so would add diversions now. You could add Reynards & Winterfold hills on easily to get to 5 peaks!

Trek do the rail in carbon if you want it probably still cheaper than specialised and the Bosch motor
I really don’t see The point in carbon on a an ebike , the wieght saving is so small but the extra cost and fragility makes them pointless . Even on normal big travel enduro bikes carbon has very little gains unless your racing and many disadvantages , Re sale of carbon is never as easy due to lack of confidence of hidden damage ,
I see chain reaction have the new vitus back in stock , what an incredibly good value bike that is now

Also whats the best place to park your car for this ride out? many thanks

Most people (well i have when ive been and its rammed) park in walking bottom car park peaslake.

sure the locals know some more crafty quieter places but unlikely they will share here ha ha

GPX of the ride - a few more interesting tracks on Peaslake and a few missed turnings included. Check it on a online map. Also this was a Summer ride ... one or two tracks will be proper wet now & I would re-route for winter.
