Shimano XT Di2 12 speed

Please let us know how it goes there may well be others here, including me, that run into the same problem and it will be good to know if the HPP is the issue.
So, I'm ready to tell you how it all ended. In fact, the problem really was with the HPP. Both the first and second Bosch dealers had never handled this procedure before. The next day after reviewing the material, I went to the same dealership and asked them to look into the HPP. Another employee was already there, and I asked him to do it, but he rather rudely said he didn't have time. Incidentally, after my first visit to the Bosch dealership, I got a service reminder in the Bosch app. He specifically installed it for me so that I would come back later. I asked him to remove it, but he rather rudely tried to deceive me, saying that it couldn't be removed and that I needed it. Although we all know that this is another Bosch ploy to pay for nothing. In the end, without receiving any help, I went to another dealership, where in 20 minutes and €35, they activated the port. By the way, I asked them to remove the service reminder, and they kindly did so.

99% is the HPP . I wanted to put the T Type AXS on my Bosch gen 5 , had to activate the HPP. Went to the dealer, charged 30 euro for it (it's a 30 seconds job) then sadly the T Type groupset that I've ordered had a fault and returned it .

But the deraileur , XO , was behaving as you've mentioned. Before activating the port was doing nothing. Afterwards it worked.
In case anyone's interested, I installed a Shimano XT Di2 M8260 drivetrain. It also requires EW-PS300 Bosch power cables. The derailleur costs about €320, the power cable €70, and the shifter €120. Now the Bosch display shows the current gear, but since Bosch hasn't updated yet, the eshift and autoshift functions are still missing. Compared to the SRAM drivetrain, the Shimano shifter is simply excellent, shifting gears very quickly. And most importantly, the Shimano cassette and chain are several times cheaper. If anyone needs more details, just ask. I'll be happy to help. Thanks to the forum members for their help, by the way.

Shimano Di2 shifters are the best!!

I does seem to me, at least, that the capabilities of the Bosch dealer diagnostic app. are very poorly understood by those who are using it. I would hope that Bosch offer training and whilst bike mechanics (particularly the older ones) may not be computer whizz kids it is not rocket science either, so I would suggest the training needs to improve!

I'm thinking of writing to Bosch and pointing out that this dealership has incompetent employees. They stole my time and money. I think they deserve it.

That's a really good price, best I have seen here is 450 Euro about 394 GBP, can you let me know where you got it from?
I live in Poland. You might have to pay tax. Mine was €316. I can provide a link to the cable, because some sites charge from €80, but I got it for €58.

Here's a link to the cable; it's long, 1600. There wasn't a shorter option, but that's not a problem for me. By the way, this is a very good store, located in Italy. They have a lot of interesting things at low prices. And very fast delivery.

Your call on that but yes as they were both incompetant and rude!

No worries Germany is still in the EU.:) The cable and shifter are similarly priced here so it was just the derailleur. Many thanks for the links.

A case for "right to repair" and an app giving the ability to assign simple functions

I suspect Bosch would claim that the Flow app is exactly that! I would like to get hold of the dealers app. as I am dam sure I can do a better job with it than the yoyos at the LBSs round here.🙄

So I have pretty much decided on one of the new XT M6260 Di2 11 speed dearailleurs but which shifter? Are the additional features on the XT M8250 shifter vs the cheaper M6250 Deore version worth paying an extra 35 Euro for and if yes is it worth paying even more (+30 Euro) for the all singing and dancing XTR shifter?
Any on hands experience and advice would be most welcome.

Hi my friend. Personally, I would recommend the XT groupset. The shifter is definitely no smaller than the XT's, because the Deore's paddles aren't adjustable. The XT's paddles are also rubberized. Regarding the rear derailleur, I think the main difference is the weight. The XT is probably the best solution. It's a compromise between price and quality.

XT Di2 8150 all installed and ready for its maiden voyage.
Right on cue, the weather has packed in, so I’m waiting, waiting, waiting.
Have had a play, but there aren’t many tutorials or instruction manuals about for how this actually works.

Make sure you install the Shimano App on your phone. If you bend the hanger slightly out riding, you can use the Micro-adjust to get it shifter properly enough to get you home.

Otherwise Front button shift up. Back button Shift down. Third side button shifts from manual to the 2 auto modes. It displays which mode on your screen.

Coast shift works in Auto or Manual. Free shift only works in Auto. But I never used it. Only Coast shift when in Manual.

To Coast Shift. Ensure you are going at a reasonable pace. Stop peddling. Shift up or down, and the chainwheel should spool. I was never able to get this to work on a bike stand like the SRAM Coast shift on the Amflow. Only when riding.

Thanks Astro. This is super helpful!

So this is really interesting for me. I have been researching this for a couple of weeks now and I plan to instal the M82160 to my Bosch bike soon.
So, my understanding, the ebike variant of this (M82160 and not M82150) is different as it takes its power from the HPP port on the Bosch engine as appose to a rechargeable battery for the M82150.
BUT, my understanding was all it needed was a 2 wire connection for 12v from the engine. But reading this, it seems it's more than that as you are seeing a gear number in your Bosch controller? how is it doing that with just a 2 wire 12v connection there is no further integration available?
Anybody else able to shed any further light on how it works?

I'm not sure but I would assume it has been added as a blutooth component in the Bosch Flow app. Bosch have announced that they will be supporting the full capabilities Shimano Di2 range with a new update this "Autumn" but it looks like there is already some limited support. I am also planning on buying one of these new Simano Di2 set ups powered via the HPP on my Bosch motor but am hanging on till the update and the details of this new feature are released.

That’s very helpful, thank you for your reply. I think I will wait also then as I am in no hurry. I am waiting for some YouTube videos on the install. There are plenty of the M8250 but nothing on the M8260 as yet.
On this forum, it only appears to be @Eifice that has fitted one. @Eifice , can you give us more details of the install please and if there was a Bluetooth addition that you went through please? Also any other things you had to do apart from the hardware fitting, paring for example, that would be really helpful. Thanks both.

Thinking again about this is maybe my assumption that it only gets 12v from the HPP maybe wrong? is it possible that the shimano cable has a 4 wire connection to the HPP and is then connected to the Bosch can bus and it gets its functionality integration from there? The pictures that @HandsomeDanNZ has shown above shows a tiny cable though. Who knows, I am sure that the information we need will come forth as lots of people start to fit it.

You maybe right but the HPP is a general power port i.e not specific for an electro derailleur so I would surprised but for sure I could also be wrong.

You may need to get the HPP activated through a dealer, by default it is turned off on most bikes.

Can I ask please, those of you that have fitted it yourselves, what generation of Bosch engine have you get please? Please let me have the model number if you can please.

And Shimano doesn't know why it won't work on the bike stand...

The Shimano DI2 XT M8260 not only receives power through the cable but also transmits information about the current sprocket, etc. Therefore, this cable is needed not only for power but also for data exchange. The automatic functions of Shimano+Bosch will only work with wired versions of the shifters. What did I do? I unlocked the HPP port at the dealer, then I needed to pair the shifter and derailleur via Bluetooth. There's a button on the derailleur. There are instructions on how to do this. Then you can connect the derailleur itself to the app on your phone. The functionality isn't extensive, but it's sufficient. By the way, it doesn't work perfectly for me. There are difficulties in 6th gear, but this could be due to the cassette and chain already being worn.

This is what the transmission looks like in the Flow app now. Bosch recently told me the update was planned for the fall, but it's already fall. I'm really looking forward to the update to see if it was worth the money. Naturally, I'll keep you updated.

Thanks very much for your reply Eifice. It adds to my understanding of how it all works.
Can you tell me what gen of engine you have please? Can you let me know the part number please?

Thanks again.
