• Warning!!

Riding a tuned or deristricted EMTB is not a trivial offence and can have serious legal consequences. Also, many manufacturers can detect the use of a tuning device or deristricting method and may decline a repair under warranty if it was modified from the intended original specification. Deristricting EMTB's can also add increased loads for motors and batteries. Riding above the local law limit may reclassify the bike as a low-powered bike, requiring insurance, registration and a number plate.

Be aware of your local country laws. Many laws prohibit use of modified EMTB's. It is your responsibility to check local laws. Ignoring it, has potential implications to trail access, and risk of prosecution in the event of an accident.

Shimano vs Bosch tuning

I've recently used the STunlocker app to increase the speed of my Thok emtb (Shimano E8000 motor) from 25 km/h to the USA legal speed limit 32 km/h (you just change electronically the region to USA). I use my bike for all-around purposes (mtb, trekking, urban) and the 32 km/h is spot on for all these uses.

I would never consider going back to a 25km/h emtb again. And here lies my problem. Although I like many of the new Bosch (smart system) emtbs (with the 750Wh battery), I wouldn't consider buying any of them due to the risk involved voiding the warranty due to tuning.
That leaves me with only Shimano motor emtbs, but there are far fewer models than Bosch ones. To make matters worse, Shimano motors come with a much smaller battery (630Wh). Nevertheless, my next emtb will be with Shimano motor again due to the Stunlocker app compatibility. This is how important the 32km speed is to me and to thousands other users I'm sure!

I wish there was an app like STunlocker for Bosch system where you can just change the region to USA (32km/h), but there isn't. Another huge advantage of the STunlocker app is that everything is done electronically unlike the other tuning products where you have to fiddle manually with the motor.
But, STunlocker is a Shimano only solution.

And here is my question to the tuning industry....
I believe that there is a significant market for a, similar to STunlocker, Bosch tuning app (up to US "legal" 32km) which does not risk voiding the Bosch motor's warranty. Are there any plans of introducing such a product and when?

Unfortunately, Canyon doesn't ship to my country. Also this is not a Shimano battery. I need a 100% Shimano system (motor & battery) for warranty purposes.
