Wondering if anyone has managed to snag linkglide parts yet?

I just got 300 miles out of my latest M8100 XT cassette and want to try something new. I've gone through three or four cassettes now in about 6 months, switching back and forward between Shimano 10-51 and 10-45. Hence the interest in linkglide. We need captain america shield melted down and used to make some cassettes and chains for ebikes.

FYI, I think the 10-45 cassette and 36T chain ring works best but this bike eats chains and cassettes. So far I only see 11 speed linkglide. I hope they come out with 12 speed direct swappable parts.

The worst thing about constantly breaking stuff is find parts in stock anywhere to replace them. Will this pandemic ever end.

@dixie600mhz I don't know what you're doing to go through so many cassettes, the Shimano SLX cassette my bike came with is still going strong after 15 months, I'm still on my 2nd chain so I'm expecting at least another 6 months life before I need to change the cassette. You may have ridden more than me though, I've done around 2500kms I think, but you must be shifting under load to cause that sort of damage?

I’d expect that wear from an abused hire bike. I can’t see how it’s possible to go through cassettes like that unless you’re changing gear under load.

I can't see how you guys have ebikes and aren't eating through cassettes and chains. Of course I shift under load! I beat the crap out of this bike through the roughest terrain at high speed. I ride with the fastest riders on 25 mile loops with no holding back.

Browsing the other forums, I see lots of complaints related to cassette and chain wear out. Especially ebikes.

For me, I'm getting to the point that when the XT drivetrain stops shifting like butter I know the chain is about to snap or I have a bent cassette tooth starting to cause an issue. I just wish there was much heavier duty parts. It used to be all about weight savings, but now there should be a category of strength and longevity for the added weight, power and torque class.

Lol ,

I've also- somewhat- learned how not to break em, switched to 10 speeds, and can now get about 750 miles from a cassette. To get this sort of milage I must clean the chain and cassette and lube before every ride.

Do you have a chipped / derestricted unit?

Learn some mechanical sympathy. My last cassette was changed at 2250 miles and will still shifting nicely and not slipping in any gear. It was too worn to accept a new chain otherwise I’d still be using it.

1 ° HG 54 840 KM
2 ° HG 54 815 KM
3 ° - 1 ° HG 95 646 KM
4 ° - 2 ° HG 95 521 KM
5 ° - 3 ° HG 95 646 KM
6 ° - 4 ° HG 95 472 KM
7 ° - 5 ° HG 95 457 KM
8 ° - 6 ° HG 95 452 KM
9 ° - 7 ° HG 95 381 KM
1 ° HG 95 398 KM
2 ° HG 95 453 KM
3 ° HG 95 431 KM
4 ° HG 95 489 KM
5 ° HG 95 432 KM

Dealer told me next summer. I sure hope not! Also going for the 10 speed linkglide. Best solution for me so far is an XT 11 spd. Cassette. 11-42. Sram XO1 chain. Changing the small sprockets individually when they skip. I also commute so that happens often.
