Has anyone updated the wheels on their Gen 5 Rail yet?
If so, what did you go for?

I’m not convinced that my OEM Bontrager wheels will last much longer so looking to upgrade.

I have a gen 2 Rail but also a Fuel+ which probably has the same OEM wheels as you. I don't tend to wreck wheels, but I bought a DT Swiss H1900 27.5 rear wheel just to try the Rail out as a mullet. I can't comment on its robustness, but if you like a quiet freewheel rear hub you will love this. Almost silent, and the original Bontrager 29er now sounds really noisy.

In my experience they are not very good wheels. I think the rubber, hubs and rims are designed for tame trails…and even then they are not very good.

If you service them regularly and stay within the 2 year warranty you might be ok. But I do begin with the issues of Bontrager wheels soon after purchase.

You’ll eventually upgrade them …that’s what I did, and several others in my circle of family and friends did also.
