Had a day off yesterday and decided to make a tour from the czech border through the Elbe Sandstone Mountains of Saxon Switzerland. Komoot suggested some single trails initially but since most of them where riddled with fallen trees and unregular steep stairs i took the asphalt route most of the time. Around 50 miles overall with tailwind so i could use medium assist levels most of the time and had some giggles by annoying the occasional road bikers.
This (Orbea Vibe) was my only eBike before I bought the Elyte last month. We live 10km from the nearest town. So I "commute" on it for the Gym, Friday night pub and a bit of light shopping. There's a traffic free route that's about 25km return with 440m of climbing. Before I had the Vibe, I mostly drove. Now between about April and October, 80% of my trips are partially leg powered.
The vibe feels very fast and quite underpowered after a MTB/CX5 motor. That little MAHLE hub motor does enough tho even when I'm tired from the Gym. It's also a really nice route in spring/summer/autumn. Just checked, three years old in Sept, just under 2000km

Great, now I'm pining for the fjords like a Norwegian Blue.
I wouldn't go, they have ceased to be, in fact they are an ex-fjord!
Had so many over the years how I've not been ill I will never know. Any insect bite I get takes months to go away .. I bought spot plasters last week and have started putting them on so I don't scratch during the night. Tried all sorts of prevention hacks nothing works for me.

I have used it successfully in Tenerife, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand, various parts of the Caribbean, South Carolina and other parts of the USA. One application works all day for me. It also works in the forests in the UK, although I have yet to test it on Scotland's "midgerigars".
My success may be down to a regular consumption of beer. I read recently on a similar topic that a lifelong attractor of midges started to take Brewer's Yeast and never had another midge bite. So that may be worth a go if you can't bring yourself to drink beer.
PS: Jungle Formula is nasty stuff, make sure that you are outside and not breathing in when you spray it on. Better still, spray it onto your hands and wipe it on. Then wash your hands with soap as it appears to be water resistant too! (Not a bad thing in hot climates).
When I ride I usually wear gloves along with shin, knee and elbow guards. Very little exposed skin for the little bastards to latch onto.

We got all the best available on ships . Saying that i dont remember any issues in West Africa or India through being bitten maybe different onshore. Scottish MIDGE takes a lot of beating. Tried a natural one last year when caught in Knoydart £16 total waste.Not even Jungle Formula - Max Strength?

One of my buddies (RIP) was in the Royal Marines more thans 40 years ago, guarding the nuclear submarine bases in Scotland. They had to stay in hiding in the bushes around the area and couldn't move much. He swore by "Skin So Soft" a ladies face cream (by Avon I think). Nothing else worked. But Avon have never confirmed what they put in it and they must have changed the formula because others have since said that it no longer works.
Tried it as well. Thing is midgies don't bite everyone so you will never know for sure if they just don't like your smell or what your using is working. Also there similar to jellyfish they don't sting at start or end of season

They changed the formula a number of years ago. No longer as effective unfortunately.
I find Smidge quite effective, for midges at least.
...and a little known fact that its only the females that do bite ..so always dress down and look like shit so as not to attract them ..
Ballistol Stichfrei..is a little price prohibitive as there are very few Uk stockists ( German brand ) ..but ( and I might have mentioned this before ) ..its the best Ive used ..and I've used just about everything else ..
Failing that ..Smidge is the next best ..for both Midgies & Ticks
Had a few of my mates come back from injury yesterday, when we rode in the National Park. It was so great to have them back. Then today the beach side ride was stunning as well.

Big ride out in Staunton (FoD/Yat), trails still running superbly if a little sandy and very dusty in places.I added an extra 20km riding from home and ended up with 25% battery (from 400W-internal + 250W PowerMore) after 82km and 1600m of climbing. Very happy with that, but I was definitely in "battery management" mode for a lot of the ride.
Too common now Ebike injuries if that's what it was. Two of my mates just got another Amflow one is crashing a lot on it .Not sure if it has more power than original one ?.
Both guys on analogues actually. 3rd guy who is still out, was racing downhill on an analogue.
It's funny. I find I'm crashing less on my Avinox motored EMTBs, because I spend less time doing gravity runs these days, and more time doing technical climbs. Motors can be controlled. Gravity cannot. I also find when riding with a group. I can go slower on the downhills, and catchup on the flats and uphill.
The other thing I find. Lack of momentum on my old Analogue MTB, quite often caused falls, as the front wheel failed to roll over an obstacle, or the rear tyre gets hooked up. With these new motors. You can rapidly increase momentum, to ensure you clear these same obstacles.
Another mate, who I convinced to get a Merida E160, with a Shimano EP801. He was nearly ready to give riding up due to a couple of falls on his analogue bike, trying to keep up with better riders in the group, and those with EMTBs. He has not had a single fall since getting his EMTB. He has said the same thing about going slower when it's more difficult, then catch up on the flats and climbs.
If you use it wisely. Sometimes more power can actually be safer. But it definitely varies rider to rider.
I agree with a lot especially momentum getting over or up technical bits. I crashed more when I first went electric ok now most days. Only thing I find as I'm older I have to fight the feeling I get if I ride slower and fall off it won't hurt, as I know too well you need the speed for technical stuff. Had a short ride on Amflow last week I am tempted to see what I get for levo and get one. You only live and die once and no pockets in a shroud . Take care now.

My son was following me on this connector trail with his new Ray Ban glasses. 1of 30 videos he took that morning.
Once all videos were d/l in HD they were very impressive. His glasses take’s pics or videos, plays music, answers phone calls, surf the internet. Voice activated.
Not sure if I d/l the right format.
