It was just a matter of time before I found a cactus with a tire. Luckily the sealant worked perfectly and was mostly just a pain in the ass to pick everything out. At least the view was nice where it happened.

I've experienced the same thing a few times. And that is why go tubeless in the desert everyone.

In Arizona, we call that a hot-air balloon but it's probably just a language thing.

That is the cleanest bike (very cool color) that I've seen. Is it new?
Yes definitely a balloon , the sun as i know it is usually a faint light hiding behind a cloud or a mirage.

Just a quick ride around the local parks today so my mate could test his new foldable ebike (ADO Air 20 Ultra with a fancy carbon belt drive). He had it delivered to my house so I could get it all set up for him. He seemed super chuffed with it.

Partially hidden by my bike, but he took the photo...

I was also testing out my knee for tomorrow's trip to Kirkhill. I crashed last weekend and it's been giving me grief all week but should hopefully be ok.

Hi to all it’s been a while.
The pic above is ( in my opinion ) the best I’ve posted in many a day.
Here’s why. March 10th a Monday. I’d arranged to meet Dave @JFDI Rob and Phil at Dales Bike Centre in Grinton, Swaledale.
We rode some fantastic trails on Harkerside Moor, steep, technical, fast and flowing. All four of us riding well.
We started the decent down Apedale which is a dual ply track very loose in places with a couple of bends after a fast drop. I got a bit out of shape lost the line all through a split second lack of concentration then wallop.
(My strava top speed showed 35 mph at that point.) the bike slammed to the ground, bottomed the fork and threw me into a bank resulting in 6 broken ribs
5 days in hospital, 3 of which were on oxygen as I couldn’t breath properly. Severe bruising from my armpit to my knee and a large 9” gash to my lower leg all on the right hand side
Today after 25 days R&R I’m back on the bike.
Big shout out to boys for helping me get off the moor and back to my car which I drove 50+ miles home. On Adrenaline, in hindsight a very stupid thing to do.
I’m back on the bike again 🥳🥳

You sure you won't make Ballater ?. Always have a day off riding and go to Balmoral castle or The Secret Houf

As much as I like Ballater and all the trails, to visit and not ride……I don’t think so 😆
Ballater is a very far cry from riding local cycle paths

Baffled, how are the UK riders managing to have no mud on the tyre treads / sidewalls and a clean down tube without mudguards? I get worse than that just on road sections before I've even gone off road ....even on dry days!

Nowadays i see a lot of these young OCD riders carrying a sponge and collapsable bucket . They stop at the burn and pimp the bike up before they take a picture. Caught one shaving the other day. Carrying bikes over puddles is another fad that seems to be catching on. Where will it end 🤔.

There's a pic above, and the bike has unblemished WHITE pedals , WHITE forks and a WHITE saddle....he must do more carrying and cleaning than riding cos I swear no mud covered soles have ever touched those pedals....and we all know pedals are a sod to keep clean, and saddles....even after scrubbing, hard. If it's a new bike and their pride and joy, no problem but it's getting ridiculous.

Dare I say it in the last 3 weeks I’ve rode in the dales , Staffordshire, and back home this weekend apart from a few puddles I can’t believe my luck how dry it’s been , haven’t had rain for over a week now in Oxfordshire where I am , the bike even got dusty yesterday, can’t believe it the only thing that’s cheesing me off yesterday is I always seemed to be riding in a bloody head wind , but I guess that’s what’s making it so dry 😊

Couple of weeks ago thought was taking a risk by swapping mud tyres for dry tyres ...

Dry tyres roll so much better (y)

@Hicksy 92 Agree with you, has dried up incredibly quickly, even got chalk dust on the bikes last time out. (South Downs).

@Hobo Mikey Cheers mate, it did smart for a while….
Bike only requires a new seat as one of the rails is distorted. I’ve purchased a new helmet as the the old one was dented in a couple of places and deeply gouged. Tbh the helmet saved me from even more serious injury. Looking back I was very lucky to only have the injuries I sustained. Could have been so much worse

The Secret Howff, is that the one in the vicinity of Gleann an t-Slugain on way in to Ben Avon?
That's the one . My pal was doing round 7 of his Munros or was it 8 🤔 in one go and was going to sleep there . We did a recce for him to use it . I thought it was impressive no fire though so need to be a summer retreat for me.
