Pic of the Day

My riding buddy was sick today so it was just me and nature. It was a beautiful day today in Nevada City, CA

Was riding back today from a muddy ride when I realised I'd not drunk the coffee I'd made. So I was looking for somewhere to sit down out of the way, and not look like a dog that had been rolling in mud, and saw a church (in Selston/Notts) and some benches so went into the churchyard.

Anyway I found this gravestone "The Gipsy King". I always thought Gypsy Kings where just myths. For someone born in 1732 he lived a long life, and apparently the gravestone you see replaced the original that was once there (replaced with this one in the 1970s) as the original was badly weathered and had become almost unreadable, with the one you see having the same wording as the original badly weathered one.

Use this bridge quite often went over it on Friday . Collapsed yesterday no one injured or reported missing so far . Interesting to see what happens can't be left like that I imagine.

What the heck? Struck-by, excessive water, rot?

Time to improve your jumping skills.

Let the experts pretend they know and see what they say.. River Spey has changed course over the years towards the bit that fell . Originally it would have went through the middle span .There was a house 200 yards away it was demolished before it was washed away.

When we saw this forecast we knew we had to go . . .

We arrived at McDowell Mtn Park Sunday evening, and with apologies to Jaime O’Neal for changing her lyrics “There is an Arizona, a painted desert, and Saguaros”.

The morning ride under clear skies was sublime

It was still nice late afternoon so we headed out again.
I like how spines on cholla cactus diffract the sunlight.

More tomorrow . . .

@Just gan The council have already said that they can't afford to replace it! I saw it on Google, so it must be true! :)

Yes it would cost a fortune. They need to inspect rest of it as well it keeps changing course. If we had stayed in euro we could have maybe got funding???. Beatrice windfarm could help though or lottery funding. A lot of folk will miss that bridge for sure.

That suspiciously shiny trig point is giving me vibes.

Reminds me of a ride from last January where we stopped at a tearoom in Amberley for coffee & cake. Unfortunately, we were so caked in mud that we left the place looking like a dirty protest & the lady asked us not to return in the same state again. Barred from a tearoom - that was a new low.

We planned ahead and wore "Underclothes" for restaurant seating. Didn't think the place would be full of Christmas dinner type people in sequins etc lol
*Edit
@HappyCamperIan even wore 4 different under t shirts :ROFLMAO:
