I think Base Jumping is more regulated than some of these MTB features. Can you spot the deficiencies in that feature? …there are many.

Many of the trail builders here stay within the regulations for building trail features …but some don’t. When the risk is identified in writing to the landowner or interested parties …some form of action can be taken.
Good morning, those structures look great. 👍 I was just trying to say that there is no way to get me on such rollercoaster as being to scared. 🤷🙂

By contrast to the above scary stuff, did this yesterday trying to avoid the mud.

Surprisingly dry so will try the Mrs favourite route with her today - Venus Woods with a stop for lunch at the Cadence café in Cocking.

When this fog clears that is! Much thicker than the camera shows. Currently only 3C.

Like a foggy morning scene saying that it can be freezing sometimes.

At midday(ish) the fog lifted and the sun came out to play.

On the way though Venus Woods:

First time out for nearly 5 weeks (don't judge!)
Went to my nearest trail centre for some off-piste riding. Only to find that the forest clearance guys were at work. It has to be done, that's what Forest England does, it is in their Terms of Reference. I tried to get around where they were working and do it safely, but a 50' tree falling across the trail 100' away put a stop to that! So I turned and went elsewhere.

I went to the nearby National Coal Board land. It is private land, and they don't mind walkers and bicycles. But they hate motorbikes, quadbikes and 4WD. Would you believe it but the forest clearance guys were there and attacking it with a vengeance! They don't appear to have the same instructions as those given by Forest England and they are leaving a proper mess. I tried a few ways in but was defeated by the amount of brash (branches stripped from the trees and left to lie where they fall). In addition to the brash, it had been ridden over and trodden into the ground by the harvesting vehicles, which were a mix of tracked and wheeled.

Below is the Forest England area, my bike is hiding in the shadows. This is normal occutrrence in just about every Forest England location.

Below is the entrance to one of the trails I use. I would have gone in for a look, but I could hear the harvesting vehicle. You can see logs left at apparently random locations. Maybe they are there to stop the likes of me? Who knows?

I moved elsewhere, but eventually came to the National Coal Board area. At first it wasn't too bad, I just had to clear branches off the trail that looked as though they had been deliberately put there. But it steadily got worse. Eventually, after 90 mins, I had to give up. I could no longer see where the trail was supposed to be.

I did try just riding over it, but it was hard going and I was in imminent danger of losing my mech or breaking some spokes. So I left it for another day and when I could get some help.

PS: That was over the whole of the forest floor, I wasn't just looking down the trail, because I didn't know where it was!

That's just f7cking horrible, you did the right thing to walk away (y)
Yeah, but I had to walk over it until I came to a trail left by the harvesters, then I followed one of the tracks (they had loads of brash squashed in, so it was very bumpy) until I got to a proper forest trail a fire break kind of thing. Then I could get out.

Im hoping to do a long ride in a few weeks that's been on bucket list for years.Did a run on eco to test battery range . Did same route as when I first got bike . Couldn't motivate myself to do full route of 42 miles. . Had 40 odd percent left for some reason not getting battery readings on app since I got a new TCU. 5 bars left so low 40s im thinking . Not much difference when new but I may have been in lighter gears , 5 and 3 quarter years older now than when I got Levo. Where have all the good times gone. I need a few more long rides in eco I think. I was overdressed today , weve just been hit by a heatwave balmy 13c today. But Mark my words we'll pay for this winter not over yet.

Have you ridden the trails at Watchwood Steve? They’re good fun. Nothing steep or techy but flow really well and nice & fast

Had a trip to Penmanshiel yesterday been on radar for couple years and only got round to going
weathers been great all week, yesterday 30mph+ wind and a bit squalling rain
Had an awesome day wind wasn’t bad in the trees will be going back for sure now we know where we’re going 🤣🤣 you can only get lost so many times
first Time my AXS battery was nearly flat so spare on order

Palm Canyon Epic. It starts up in the clouds behind us in the picture. It's about 25 miles of mostly black diamond single track winding through the wilderness inhabited by big horn sheep, rattle snakes, needle sharp jumping cactus, hostile Indians (I'm not kidding), and ending in Palm Springs where all the fancy pants celebrities play golf and work on their tans while lounging by the pool.

I've never heard of this place ..never mind knowing where it is ..so had to have a look as to where this "mountainous" area could be where you could do 4,413ft of climbing in less than 16miles ...totally surprised to see that it barely nudges the 200m mark 😲
Berwickshire..just off the A1..and quite a compact area..but the contours look well packed together ..so short but really steep downs & climbs ..you must have been fkd by the end of 5 hrs ??

Yeah have to drive past it a few miles the. Come back down south and hopefully not miss the turn off if you do its a mission to go back round again
we were shocked at the amount of climbing we did
the trails are superb there’s only about 6ish but lots of options not stupid steep but enough to keep you on your toes

My thighs cramped up driving home but they nearly always do when I’m driving more than an hr home
and yesterday were wrecked 😝
hopefully be ok for tomorrow meeting a lad and showing round hammers and buying a spare battery

Most of the footage I did was on 1080p 240fps so is ruined 😡 first trail is 47minutes long 🤣
must of changed settings without realising

Anyone know of a way to transfer it back to 60fps so I can use it ?

Trust me winter wasn’t over that day
great weather all week and glorious yesterday the one sheet day, the day we went there 🫣

I wear the mask all year round 🤦‍♂️ get sick of midges and flying crap during summer months

Don't mention the M word it's not far away up here.

Camping 🏕 trip 5th April if there are any about they will find me for sure.
Horrible things even worse that far north
I use some spray I got in florida for flying pests seems to work smells though
have to some more later this year when we’re there

Yes and Curtain Twitchers. I just post rubbish , exaggerate occasionally and hope nobody takes me too seriously and try not too offend but it's hard real hard sometimes.
Too many people easily offended at the slightest thing nowerdays

Kilburn is similar, just checked my Strava. It’s not crazy steep there either, I think if you’re doing winch & plummet style trails then that’s an average elevation for the distance 👍🏽
