Pic of the Day

Forget about those naysayers. They might have bike-rack-envy.😉

But the Subaru Cross Trek is the ultimate MTB ride imo. We’re also trading in the Toyota next year for the Cross Trek…but the hybrid model when that is available. We use a different bike rack though. 2” hitch.
I'm jealous of both the rack and car 😩

Haha, these pedestrians from the old country have no idea what it's like to have to go off road to get to a trail head head to park your "car". I am SURE they would ride the extra 10km up the FSR as their street cars would get caught up in the water bars and their racks would shake off their bikes too!
The Taco was great but just too big for me to drive around in the city and such a waste for one person for 90% of the time. The Crosstrek is perfect but the 18 year old boy in me wants to put in a lift kit and KO2s!
I came full circle from an STI

Three Cross Treks park at our trail head on a regular basis. They all have the lift-kit mod. And they travel in packs 😉.

Your rack is a must have on some of our access. We use the Thule foldable rack for most trips to Whistler or Kelowna.(folds up like a suitcase), but it’s not suitable for some of our gravel roads. We have access to other racks for that.

Ps; Are you gonna straighten out that wheel? 😉

Cold up the top of BPW this weekend!
We had all the weathers in one day, from hot to cold, dry to wet and rain to snow! Thankfully the wind stayed calm

Topsy-Turvy Ride today. Lots of trees fallen and blocking the trails causing more exercise than I had been looking for today. After months of rain it was surprising that trails are not deep mud.

Now just hold on there sonny !🤗
Street car? 😂
City? ( I live 40 miles from the nearest one in deepest darkest Northumberland )
My home is on the southern edge of Europe's largest man-made forest ..250sq miles..and whisper it but I've a key to open all the forest road barriers ..of which all are gravel.
My transport of choice is an Audi A6 Allroad 3.0l V6 Quattro S-tronic .( 272PS)
The three levels of air suspension ..get me to some naughty locations 😉😁..
Not all " old country " riders are the same 😂
Still like your car though ( but that rack ..yeesh )

With our Torridon trip getting ever closer..and with the prospect of four consecutive rides in mountainous terrain ..I thought I'd better get this lardy arse used to more than the current one ride weekly ..so headed out of the door for the second ride of the weekend in the area of Kielder Forest closest to me ..Pundershaw / Allerybank & Roughside..I had intended spending time clearing sections with fallen trees ( at least enough branches to gain passage ) ..but that fell by the wayside after the first section when I lost my folding saw out of my backpack..totally gutted 😢..

Nothing like that in Torridon as you well know.

You’re going to have a fantastic time up there, Hodge, with a gang of blokes who all still think they’re 30 years old.
I’ve got a mental picture of you all sitting round a campfire drinking beer, telling crap jokes, eating beans, and having a farting competition!

It's on the itinerary..
Maybe you should have my Mystic Meg handle 😂

Rode with wife up Chalkpit Lane today (north of Chichester), a tough ride into the face of a northeasterly gale on Chimet in the Eastern Solent.

A pic of the Eastern Solent taken from the Trundle which is at the top of Chalkpit Lane. Can see the Isle of Wight to the right.

On the way back with the wind behind us (oh bliss! ❤️) the South Downs chalk sponge is discharging water into the fast flowing river Lavant.

But not the only thing being discharged into the Lavant which finally ends up in the Eastern Solent.

Well, no Cidre in Denmark and this sounds like the perfect @Zimmerframe drink! But liquorice beer decent? 🥴🍻
Real ale man myself ( minus the cardigan & pipe )..golden / pale ales are favourites..but don't mind the occaisional pint of the black stuff ..which has been used as currency / thank yous with @The EMF for bike maintenance beyond my limited skill set ..he loves the stuff😍

Love Guinness, but not a fan of Black Velvet personally

If you arrive late to the party and need to catch up .. a "Depth Charge" is perfect.

That's a shot glass of Port dropped into a pint of Guinness, a couple of those and you're rapidly in the talking gibberish zone.

Or the Guinness cocktail glass method ... though it's a bit of a waste of nice Guinness !

Just back in after a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon session, a quiet gallon of the black stuff followed by a delightful corned beef and beetroot sarnie……..enough practice for one day

We live in totally different worlds my friend………..I live in an ex mining town ravaged by the pit closures of the 1980’s and 90’s. The only time I’ve seen that type of drink glass is in an old James Bond film 😂😂

Forget about Martini. Try VW (3cl Vermouth Bianco with 3cl Williams Pear Schnaps). Some like it BMW, Bit More Williams (Edit!). Famous aperitif in local steel industry. 👍

It was a beautiful weekend in West Texas out at the off road club ranch. I've ridden dirt motorcycle and pedal-only MTB's out here for years, but this was the first trip on the Trek Rail 7. It performed awesomely. These trails are designed for off road dirt motorcycles and there's a lot of gnar out there in the form of rocks, ruts, ledges, steep inclines, and steep descents. I don't find many MTB'ers who like riding out there, so being alone I wasn't able to get any riding pics. I hope that changes in the next few weeks as one of the guys at the bike shop is taking our shop demo Rail 7 out there.
