Canna figure out what that long tool is
How far are you into your fathers day present ??? :p

It's a sordfish with a pole up it's arse ....

ok, it's a Makita long reach 18v hedge trimmer. Great for lots of first pass trail tidying (and amazing for hedges). If you have a hedge and you've not used one you'd never use a petrol one again.

You can angle the head and use it as a sort of strimmer/power sickle bar. It generally chomps through upto about 27mm I think (inch ish) Though you can use the teeth edges and saw through thicker stuff. Can't carry it on the bike though really, so it's a foot job.

2 mile ride followed by a 2 mile walk back to the car due to a snapped hanger

I’m currently cursed at present with broken bikes

At least I got to take a few pretty pictures

I had four miles when derailleur went it wasn't that bad really. Part and parcel of Ebiking .We are all waiting for the dreaded 11 mile hike from the back of beyond which is bound to happen eventually .

Yes today’s walk was actually quite pleasant and there were a couple of descents too to freewheel down. I had a 4 mile uphill walk a couple of weeks ago when I snapped my chain on my other eeb. Kind of getting used to it now 😆

I was a bit shocked at how steep it had to be in deep Heather before bike would freewheel down. Will we ever learn.

I'm very jealous of all of these daddy's day cards & presents ..I think my son & daughter have forgotten I've spawned them ..and worse the missus hasn't reminded them !😁
Hmmm. The card I got from one son said 'hugs and kisses to the best daddy in the world', with a big teddy bear on the front. All very nice , but he's 37. Last card in the shop, obviously.

Little recon ride on the nearest hill to see which trails actually need tidying .... all of them ..

Had to put my fingers behind the brake levers to stop them being forced on ...

It's bizarre sometimes how you clock up the elevation when you're only pottering about.

It's not even a high.

This weekend was meant to be me full-on doing paperwork ..but but but ..when the weather is this good ( and is meant to change next week ) ..I just thought fk it ..gotta get out there !😁.
Early start to do a Bolts Law there and back as far as the Rookhope Road ..then packed the bike into the car and headed for a Carriers Way loop out of Blanchland ..met quite a few fellow mtb'ers which wasn't really a surprise with the conditions this good .

This is where things went a bit tits up ..one second the trail was dry & dusty but firm ..the next it was Northumberland's version of the Sahara Desert ...I tried to save it but the front end just washed out ..

A very enjoyable pootle all the same 😁👍

That first trail looks amazing

That first trail looks amazing
Pics 1-4 are on the upper reaches of what's commonly known as the Bolts Law route ( follow signs for The Lead Mining Trail from Edmundbyers ) ..there is a full circular route which takes in Blanchland/ Slaley Carriers Way/ Baybridge..with a 6km slog on tarmac which I cut out yesterday and just did the best bits ..
It's as dry as I've ever known it and I've been riding it since 2006..not a puddle in sight ..great fun !

Funnily enough he was getting the Rolex but I sold it a few years ago and bought an Ebike .
I like that. I am currently going "ski-ing" at every opportunity.

(Spending the Kids Inheritance) :ROFLMAO:

They are doing well enough without me. However, the grand kids may need some help, so maybe I should cancel that around the world tour?

Yes two
Of my 3 are in good enough jobs and all males so they are probably better off than me. I usually manage a real ski trip on my own but wary now I'm getting older .

After replacing almost everything by myself… Not gonna lie I am a bit proud of myself. Changed the wheels, freehub, cassette, derailleur, shifter, saddle, headset, fork, pedals. Also went tubeless.

Next step will be damper, brake discs, brake lever and grips.View attachment 116757
You should've just bought the bike you wanted to start with!
