Well, I'm out for awhile. Had a fast paced off a shoulder landed on a root. Surgery later today, getting plated. MTB wins vs collarbone!

Double collarbone fracture. Wife did that going OTB of an off road bike, piece of collarbone also severed an artery. Had to be air medevacked off Salisbury Plain, she was lucky to live through it.

Wow. Out of curiosity, what were the circumstances that caused that?
he rode where there was a bit of offcamber and roots so the rear wheel slipped on a root and then slid down and stopped at edge of gravel.

He didt fall or hit the rear triangle to something , but is was on a desend it happens so he had pretty high speed when the rear wheel slipped

That's bad luck & even if he'd been hucking to flat off a ten foot drop, he's entitled to expect his frame to not fold imo.

Where ever
Llandegla this morning. And no the bike never went down sideways,:ROFLMAO: I put it there for scale for those don’t know Llandegla. It was bloody hot there this morning doing the thirty miles I did including three times up that climb, not the one in the photo but the climb from the car park to the start of trails which is about three miles to get to the top. Still sweltering here. My usual coastal route today in reverse .Cullen to Buckie but in the boat then back on bike for the car. Saw a load of Dolphins but too far away for the camera phone. Just waiting for the Cider to chill. No cooking tonight sorted a puncture for neighbours mum so got a voucher for a fish supper. It doesn't get much better.

With the Northern Hemisphere summer solstice fast approaching and a deep Atlantic low also approaching looks like our brief but welcome summer on the North East Coast will soon be over. I decided to take the Great Whyte for a local blast. So EMTB selected, off I went.
First a play in the local community woodland numerous little trails not too difficult but in the dappled sunlight of late summer some off camber roots and stumps are hard to make out , especially if you’re like me, short of a little lamp oil.

Then onto local bridle ways accessed via quiet C roads

This innocuous little trail looks nothing but is frequently used by horses and is usually very muddy but the hoof prints made in the mud are baked solid so a real test for suspension set up.
A pic from the highest point of the ride to the east where you can see the sea on the horizon.
Lastly a pick of the Black Bridge, soon to be carrying passengers to Newcastle again, reversing the closure as a result of the Beeching cuts of the 1960’s IMG_5629.jpeg IMG_5621.jpeg

Searching for a power creak on Ye Olde Kenevo .... Doing a full bolt check and greasing, plus greasing the edges of the plastic covers, screws and battery edges/mounts .....

It still amazes me that after almost 4 years this thing is still on it's first motor and it's had the crap hammered out of it. I think running it on 140 cranks for it's first two years, so it had virtually zero pedal strikes, helped (Ineptitude). Been submerged extensively once it was out of warrant and spent quite a bit of time on the beach trying to keep up with silly horses ..

It's not even corroded to crap like you'd expect.

It was always well washed down after beach trips - deluged, not pressure.

Always gets a long blast in Turbo straight after any immersion then gets baked for several hours on gas mark 6.
