Fun morning out on the Salisbury Plains, UK

The sidewalls look good with the color of the bike. Cool stuff.

So what are we looking at? A locked fence that anyone could hop over, substantial buildings that are boarded up, debris in the road, and an abandoned tracked vehicle. There must be an interesting story behind this place.

Thanks for the compliments on the bike! Actually, I’m not too keen on the pale sidewalls (Mezcals used to be more gum coloured - better) but it was either these or the grey sidewalls. Good tyres all the same.

There’s 2 military training villages on the plain - Imber, which was an actual inhabited village before the government compulsory purchased it for WWII soldiers to train in - and this one, Copehill Down. Copehill was purpose built by the military in the 80’s to resemble a German hamlet for the military to train in urban warfare. Top Gear (Clarkson AMG SLK), Wheeler Dealers (Mustang episode) and several movies have also been filmed there.

Inspired by others on these forums (@dobbyhasfriends) I finally finished this project. A bridge to nowhere …for now.

Packed up some of my tools and went for a detour ride. The views weren’t that great but the trails were nice and wet 👍🏻.

Took a day off on Tuesday to explore nearby Bikepark Höllkopf. Four different trails with rocks, roots, jumps and berms. Since it was a week day, we had everything for ourselves. My Levo SL and a tow rope made sure we could both do as many runs as possible. All in all great fun, we'll certainly return for some more laps!

I know i only ever post pics of Cardinham Woods trails in Cornwall UK but it's the only place i go ( apart from Cannock Chase a couple of weeks ago) . ... so as the South UK hurls inexorably towards a record heatwave (1 warm day), i went there again today and took another pic - bike leaning on post w/view....
Last week - puddles, this week - brambles and nettles growing at an alarming rate 😱 - i was wearing shorts, t-shirt, fingerless gloves and sandals!! Scarred for life but not in the way you'd normally associate with mtb
