A brilliant, cold day in North Yorkshire!
25 miles, 3400ft climbed.
The trails were, for the most part, dry, and a real pleasure to ride after all the recent storms.

Yesterday Rod gathered up a pack of hooligans for a little jaunt through the desert.
The ride starts way back that-a-way, at the top of the canyon.
You need to like riding on rocks.
You need to be good with route-finding.
You need to like riding through sharp, pointy things.
SoCal's two highest peaks:
Mt. San Gorgonio (11,500') is right of center.
Mt. San Jacinto (10,800') is on the left.
Regroup before the next leg of our journey.
The ride starts way back that-a-way, at the top of the canyon.
You need to like riding on rocks.
You need to be good with route-finding.
You need to like riding through sharp, pointy things.

It was a new route for me and I really enjoyed the whole loop.Done that route a few times, the descent down Black Hambleton is fun
Have you tried the vague sneaky section of single track near to where it says 'Wainstones' on the map? It's worth checking out

Yeah there’s a trail that starts behind a house in Chop Gate and takes you over the moors to the Cleveland Way. It’s a steep and rocky ascent at first but then it mellows out all the way to the edge of the Cleveland Hills. It’s actually a walking route so you have to respect the hikers when passing. Is that the one you mean ?

yes, that is a tough climb out of Chop Gate (great descent tho!) and yhen you continue straight ahead and down the singletrack towards Head House.

Sounds different to the one I’m trying to describe, I don’t remember Head House. Once you leave Chop Gate it’s nothing but moors, and peaty bogs

Nice 20 mile loop today. Weather dry but very windy.
Whitley Chapel revisited today with The Hodge and Jaco (we were beaten back by horrendous weather a few weeks ago) and what a great ride out. Bit of a chew in the wind on the way out but thanks to Mr Bosch and 85nm of torque available it was ok.
Fantastic climb on to moor from Fell View, sublime singletrack from the Broadway up to Pikeley Rigg, from there up to Hangman’s Hill and IMO some of the most technical singletrack to Kings Law a proper rock fest.

Looks like it's still winter over there. We've had nothing but sunshine in the last two weeks, so no mud or rain protection necessary any more. 
Discovered some nice flowy trails today on an old military training site nearby (and the first tiny little green leaves on some bushes).

Great short ( 10 miler ) today over crown edge. Mixed bag of bridal, singletrack and road. Good flowy sections along with rocky, divoty sections too. Extremely windy over crown edge but luckily it was a right to left as if it was reversed it could be very sketchy with the drop on the right lol. Getting sick of my chain coming off over bumpy terrain now though.

My partners getting quite confident on the bike now. It’s been over a year since she first pedalled an MTB and quite rewarding seeing her progression
Took her on some off piste today, she was fine. I had an OTB on a steep chute, into a tree, like a right twat

4300 feet elevation gain in 7.5 miles, then back down. She kept up with me the entire ride. I was impressed.
No need for waterproof’s and long pants on that ride out 
Mumbles on the Gower, urban ride but no refreshment from the big Apple.

A nice circuit around the Hawnby area in North Yorkshire.
Starting (& finishing) at Hawnby you are straight into a tough little climb up onto Hawnby Hill but we'll worth the effort as the views were terrific, plus the descent was very entertaining!
The singletrack from Low Thwaites to Blow Gill was good fun, with a mix of ruts, twists and tussocky (is that a real word?!) grass to negotiate, but the Blow Gill stream crossing, though narrow, was a royal pain so beware if you venture there!
The Owl in Hawnby is excellent, great views and the beer was pretty good as well
