Nice pic of a Red Kite, difficult to catch on camera, let alone a mobile as you normally just end up with a teeny weeny bird in a large sky.
Yes , took a while. Every time I got my phone out, he went and hid in a tree. Put phone in pocket, and he comes out to play 😀. He actually came quite close but I wasn’t quick enough.

That's what normally happens to me too, by the time you have your phone out, it's too late. I once brought a super zoom bridge camera to try and catch kites and buzzards, but that's almost impossible as the more you zoom the harder it is to get them in the frame, so I gave up lol.

Brilliant ride out today with @The EMF ( Wayne) on a route I hadnt done for about 8years (?)..sure we've done some of it lots of times ..but not the Border Ridge separating England/ Scotland in its entirety from Chew Green ( Roman Fort ) to where it joins Clennell Street ..possibly the fact the initial part of the ride involves a lot of tarmac has been an inhibitor..but that is ignoring the fact that it's a little used singletrack road in fantastic surroundings .
This map at the starting point of Barrowburn Car Park shows the whole route ..with a little bit of history thrown in ..

Once off-road at Chew Green we encountered something we hadn't seen for ages ..mud & bog in places which made the going quite tough 😁..but these hills are our " local " happy place and there is nowhere in the North East North of Newcastle in Northumberland where we like riding more...
Wayne doing his thang..

Yes I can wholly concure with the @The Hodge today’s ride was a great classic Cheviot Hills loop. In all the years I’ve been riding these hills I’d never followed the valley bottom along to Chew Green and eventually up to the Border Ridge and The Pennine Way.
Surprisingly wet and boggy in places. The ribbon of “flagged granite pavement” running parallel with the border is a joy to ride, very technical in places and also a ride of faith where the black peaty water has submerged the trail in some places.
Was well knackered by the time I got back to the car at Barrowburn. With the blisteringly fast grass decent off Barrow Law to the farm is an eye watering finish to an excellent ride.

Fantastic! The title „Afternoon Ride“ suggests a relaxed tour, whereas the pictures seem to speak of a challenge that should not be underestimated. 👍👍👍

That looks like a majestic feeling

How do you cross / pass this section? Ride through the water or try passing by to the left or right?

The water directly in-front of Neil is deep, well above axle depth so crossing point is to the left in the picture. Neil cleaned it, I was unfortunately a tad too close to the right, not by much mind and got stuck. My shoes had a hour on the boot drier when I got home.

The top pic is of me just dropping into the final descent of the loop. The pictures we post don’t do justice to the area, very isolated in parts but majestic in their own way. Been riding these hills for almost 30 years and still find them spell binding.

Driech day yesterday followed by a drunken night in Shieldaig it could only get worse. Attempted the Loch Damh loop got nipped twice by a Border Collie ( no super glue required). Started the single track the growth was bad , wet and definitely tick country managed twenty metres then about turned 6 miles total. Long way to travel and an expensive night away with only a hangover to show.😪 . The Scallops were lovely but at 28 quid they should be.

Tollymore Forest, Co Down N Ireland recently.

Had a very enjoyable 20 mile pootle through Tollymore. My knee is not 100% yet so took things easy but had a terrific grand day out! Managed a couple of personal bests too - max speed 37mph and highest total climbing on a ride at 870m. Also hit the 2500 miles mark on the Rise. I had been tempted to change - quite like the Cube Stereo One44 SLX - but decided to get the Rise fully serviced, new bearings, fork and shock serviced and motor bearings replaced. New tyres fitted, new chainring and new 160 cranks ( instant noticeable improvement) and I invested in a range extender. Hopefully that should keep me going for another few thousand miles! No Trigger broom jokes please!

Thanks for sharing and respect for such tour. How did the battery of the DJI last? Did you ride it all with e-power or also sections in bio mode?
