Orange bikes with DJI

I thought I was having a discussion with zerocool about carbon Vs alloy because he said he didn't like carbon. And I agreed with him till I owned a carbon framed bike, because carbon frames are lighter. That is the post I quoted. I used my personal experience as an example of where weight made a difference.

So to reiterate. I changed my mind about carbon framed EMTBs because in the same spec as an alloy one. They will be lighter. That's it.

I I own a YT Decoy which is carbon, and it rides great, but I’m still not sold on carbon bikes being any better than aluminium ones. I’m dreading a hard rock strike (Dartmoor is basically make from granite), whereas my previous (and current) bikes worried me less about rock strikes.

I know you can make carbon strong or stiff or light or heavy or flexible depending on how you engineer it.

Just to show why I’d like a white coloured DJI powered new Phase Evo with silver/orange coloured Hope parts fitted.Granted thats not an identical frame but I think it looks amazing and with a DJI fitted it would go as well as it looks.

The slimmer downtube really makes a difference in its appearance. It’s no fatter than any other ebike out there and I always found with my Aloine 160 that it wasn’t actually any noisier a bike than others. But then the Alpine had a reasonably slim downtube tube. The older Iranges like the Patriot, 5, 222,223, etc with the big down tubes and huge swing arms are what gave Orange the ‘toolbox of spanner’s falling down a stairs’ reputation. No idea on newer ones but I abused (and I mean abused!) my 2012 one for 8 years without any cracks or breakages.

Any updates on the new Patriot with DJI , be good to see Orange out in front on new DJI options at hopefully a reasonable price point.

They didn't even have the prototype completed for Eurobike. At Eurobike they presented a half built bike, cable tied to a couple of bits of 4X2. It looked all a bit last minute and lacking any attention to presenting a quality product. It doesn't inspire confidence in the brand for me.

yes fair point , it's a bit heath robinson for sure , I guess something is better than nothing to show of your wares at the show -British prototyping in all it's glory ....
