Norco Sight VLT

Has anyone replaced the headset with an angle set with their Sight?…. If this has been made successfully keen to follow up to which type - brand was implemented.

After bumping the fork to 170mm feels good and maybe even 180mm… Seems like an extra degree to slacken things out may aid better to riding conditions.

Ok thanks!

Why did you get a Sight? It sounds like you needed a Range instead.

To answer your question kntr…… The Sight has been my first ebike, this was in 2019, after a few years not owning a bike, at which coming from DH rigs.

In short…. rekindling all the logistics and feel for riding an e bike, gaining confidence on the trails and features.

The Range came about in 2020-21…. now recently owning one.

Just picked up a vlt a2 29er for a donor motor which I was planning on selling when I sourced a new motor for my E 160 but had a couple of rides and I liked the way it felt so will now keep as a second bike to use for longer rides (630 vs 504 battery) Currently running the dhx with valt progressive spring on the e -160 and love it so looking at upgrade options and the marzocchi coil is a cheaper option. Interested to know a bit more about your experience with the coil over the stock shock which is about as basic as they come from memory.

im done setting up my sight vlt’s.. confident enough with my current setup and it feels good in traction in all direction. running cane creek db cs coil shock with cane creek progressive 500lbs-610lbs spring. fox 36 elite 170mm travel with 2.8 butcher tire front and 2.6 butcher rear, 35x35 chromag stem and 760mm chromag carbon handlebar. awesome ride in all types of terrain.. enjoy the ride guys

Requiring information that the 2019-20 27.5 Sight - Range Vlt frames are still compatible in bolting on the newer EP8 motors….. E 8000 discontinued….. owner with these 2 bikes.
Thanks.

Purchased a Ep8 online to bolt into the 2020 Range before mimicking the procedure to the 2019 Sight....

Took to the bike workshop, installing the first 2 bolts, front position of frame motor to swing into place, eyeing off how it sits before removal to a small piece from the frame, all going ahead well....

Next, so close but yet so far, motor reaching its inline position for the next 2 bolt lugs position.

The EP8 became restricted by frame, or the top of Ep8 the "spine" of EP8 compresses up against frame, roughly at the shock mount region.....

Until both motors are sitting beside one another on the bench its then to what stands out in differences, the bolt lugs are more proud on the Steps 8000, giving cavity space and possibly to evidence of frame manufacture designing frames to fit motors, possibly with the carbon manufacturing.....

The mod upgrade works with some frame designs. from my position owning two rigs that essentially do it all, simply working on preserving at best creating for longevity.

Anyone out there still ripping on these first gen Vlt's....

Hello did you get the EP8 fitting by the shock mount or does one need to stick with steps 8000?
I'm thinking of the same conversion.

The EP8 will not line up in the 2020 Range Vlt.... due to the frames moulded design at the shock mount bearing.... is taking up space with the motor cavity....

The Sight Vlt and the EP8 bolts in.... some grinding away to a small restriction of carbon.... Bike still at shop awaiting for the cables and display....

Thanks for the information, I will be attempting to fit an EP8 with new control, cables and display into my Norco 2020 VLT.
Happy with bike just trying to future proof the bike.

Ep8 has been working well.... ep8 lower guard fits snug under the steps guard.... just on noting we kept the rear of the steps speed sensor cable, leaving the magnetic reader as is for the spoke magnet... cut both adaptors refitting tape or soldering the ep8 adaptor to complete connection to the ep8 motor....
