I’ve cancelled my amflow pr pro order and will hold onto my gen 3 levo until these are released Jan 27th
Modular battery system 320/600 can be run with either or both

Can take a 170mm fork
Rides as quiet as current tq
Downtube looks slightly bigger than current but no where near the girth of current 800w battery’s
Motor area looks a bit bigger obviously
I saw $12k USD for the highest end, fully spec'd out model with a weight around 40lbs at the lowest.

Yah, I don't believe that weight at all. Is the battery made of air?
The current fuel+ ex is around 19.5 kg/43lb with the hpr60 and 580wh battery, can't see a 120nm/600wh battery version being a kilo and a half lighter.

It might be 20 to 20.5kg though

The base size small EX+ I bought for my gf weighed 46#! It'll be about 41#s (with the 580wh battery!) this time next month though. Those cheap parts really added up and that was with trail tires!

It almost seems like this motor was exclusively created for Trek
That’s actually quite possible. Trek was the exclusive TQ launch partner for the first year of the HPR50.

However I could see this being an exclusive to Trek and Yeti, at least for US brands for the initial bikes.

Modular battery sounds promising … e.g. 0Wh @ 18kg (guessing) + x*1.5kg/300Wh = 19.5, 21.0 & 22.5kg.

Although interesting for me only if the downtube doesn‘t get chunky (in needing to contain and support up to 900Wh) - I suspect it will.

Downtube looks identical to the HPR60, while the motor area is a bit chunkier.

Any Trek retailer will show you what the bikes look like.
 
The idea of a modular battery is super appealing to me. The possibility to run 300wh, 600wh or 900wh configs is ideal.

Any info on if there will be any fast charge capabilities?
You can pretty much do that now with the current tq batteries.

Not as elegant a solution as what's planned however and require mor expense to have extra batteries and a range extender.

How can uyou do 900wh on the cuurent TQ system? I though 580wh was the biggest battery (740wh max w/ range extender)

I have 2 range extenders with two bikes.

My eElja: 360 + 160 =520
My Fuel+: 580 + 160 =740

Now for really long days it’s easy to carry both extenders so I can do:

580 + 160 + 160 = 900

I will say that the RE is not as efficient though. While Lauf gave a discount on a second RE as I was concerned on the range of the 360 + 160, having 360 + 160 + 160 for 680wh is still not as useful as just having a 580w to begin with. Still it gives plenty of options and for most rides the 360w on that bike is fine.

The idea of the 300/600/900 combos I think will be perfect.

I think you're going to have to explain that ...

The 160Wh RE is of course not really half of e.g. 360Wh, so while the display indicates 150% when full it should really show 145% .

What does the display show for 580Wh + RE?

Depends which display you have. If you have the original black and white display as found on the fuel exe it still shows the range extender is being 50% despite it only being ~28% of a 580wh battery.

If you have the new colour display it shows the range extender as 100%
 
I wonder if anyone out there has done a fuel+ with 205x 57.5 rear float shock and a 36SL at 140. Put some XC wheels on the baby and make it lighter. That would appeal to me more than the EX stock. Sets it apart from the other builds. I already have all the parts.

It really comes down to several things.

If you look at watts by weight, because of extra packing and dual BMS you’ll get less energy per kg.

Second, when I was tracking range, I noticed I would get less miles per watt consumed on the Range extender than using the main battery.

If you look at the specs as well, the range extender has a much lower cycle life than the main batteries as well.

Overall, its inferior in all ways apart from one. The one pro of the RE is that it does not reduce power in the last 10% down to 100w like the main batteries. That may be the reason for its reduces rated service life though.

If you want a light, short travel bike, you may do better looking at the Lauf eElja.
