• Warning!!

Riding a tuned or deristricted EMTB is not a trivial offence and can have serious legal consequences. Also, many manufacturers can detect the use of a tuning device or deristricting method and may decline a repair under warranty if it was modified from the intended original specification. Deristricting EMTB's can also add increased loads for motors and batteries. Riding above the local law limit may reclassify the bike as a low-powered bike, requiring insurance, registration and a number plate.

Be aware of your local country laws. Many laws prohibit use of modified EMTB's. It is your responsibility to check local laws. Ignoring it, has potential implications to trail access, and risk of prosecution in the event of an accident.

Do I understand you correctly that 3 are now available while the older 2 will come later and what about the new Specialized G4 released next month?

Does Levociraptor gen3 work on Levo gen3 with the latest 8.6.0 firmware?

Yes, it should work correctly
And can Specialized identify whether one has been used? I have a new levo Gen 3 expert and Levociraptor Gen3, but I’m unsure if I will void the motor guarantee. As such it’s still sitting in a box in the garage….

If you follow the reset procedure in the user manual, Specialized should not detect the Levociraptor.
It is also important to don't use Mission Control without follow the reset procedure

Ok thanks for the info, however the advice in the manual doesnt work, if I cant read the wheel size as mission control is no longer supported. There is no such info in the Specialized app, which is the only app now available. In addition BLEvo changes the wheel size and Specialized can now see any changes to size in their diagnostics. So considering the above points can you still guarantee Specialized wont detect it?

Below info from Levociraptor manual, which now seems out of date:

"Note 3: Riders who are concerned about their bikes warranty, before installing the Levociraptor Generation 3, please check in Mission Control the Wheel Circumference value within the Diagnostics page. Check if the value is correct (set the correct tire pressure, place a marking on the floor, sit on the bike and then ride one wheel rotation, place another marking on the floor and measure the distance between the two markings).

If the value in Mission Control is not correct please ask your dealer to adjust the setting via the dealer bike portal first. Once the Wheel Circumference value within Mission Control is correct, close the Mission Control app, mount the Levociraptor and select the exact same wheel circumference as in Mission Control but now by adjusting the Levociraptor “Real Wheel” settings. From that moment on, only change the “Maximum speed” setting setting and change that setting back to 25km/h for service.

The “Real wheel” Levociraptor setting will overwrite the “Wheel circumference” value within the diagnostics page of Mission Control. While following the above procedure, the original “Wheel circumference” value set by the dealer will not change in Mission Control. The benefit is a “stealth” usage of the Levociraptor to avoid any potential warranty rejections."

Specialized allows any wheel size value greater than 2000mm, so you can set 2255 or 2160 as you prefer.
The note in the documentation was to keep the same value of the wheel size when the bike is new, but now you cannot know it.
In any case if you don't use Specialized app or use it only after reset procedure, the Specialized dealer cannot say anything about the warranty, because the value is in acceptable range. If it is different from the original one, you can say that you changed because you changed the wheel.
I hope I answered you question.

Ok, but due to the fact that changing the speed setting in the BLEvo app reduces the wheel size, are you saying that if I eg delete the Specialized app no wheel size data will be updated anywhere? That is the big question; where does specialized get the data? Is it stored in a chip, on/inside the motor, or only in the Specialized app? I have read that there are multiple sensors with feedback on the motor so this data could be stored independently of the app…

What I understood is that the data is stored in the motor and readout from the app (or the dealer tool) that sends the data to Specialized server..

I don't know how and where the data is stored but my LBS told me they would see it as soon as the bike was connected to their service portal.

So in that case, even with the Specialized app not connected and the wheel size not changed, Specialized can still tell if a Levociraptor has been used, correct?
I say this, because as far as I understand it the BLEvo and Levociraptor apps do change the wheel size when the speed limit is changed. Hence it’ll be pot luck on the warranty. If I’m wrong on this please correct me, I’d really like to instal mine, but im a little concerned as my Levo is only 2 months old.👍

I can say only my experience.
I installed the Levociraptor and after some time the motor broke due to the well known problem of the belt of the Brose motor. I follow the reset procedure and the dealer changed the motor without any problem...
I don't know if this can help you in the decision to buy or not the device.
